This has reference to the replies given by Worley on the CRS for thermal design and

the telcon had with Worley yesterday regarding the fan and motor selection.
In this connection please note following points.

1. Attached are the updated HTRI reports for the following cases of the two tags
of this order.
Tag No. Rev. 3 HTRI report for case Remarks
2062-EA-003 a) Base case – as per PDS Longitudinal tube pitch
(One bay added b) 110% air flow case updated to 61 mm as per
to existing unit) comments.
2072-EA-003 a) Base case – Design case Bundle width updated to
(New unit) as per PDS match with drawing.
b) 110% air flow case
c) Normal case (as per Note
in PDS)
Please review the attached HTRI reports and confirm that the same are
now accepted.

2. Regarding the fan and motor selection – We propose to proceed on the

following lines. Client to review the same and confirm acceptance.
a) Fan selection will be done as per the air flow rate and static pressure from
the HTRI reports for the base case.
b) Minimum required motor rating will be calculated as per the two formulae
given in Clause 7.2.7.1.2 of API 661 which takes into account the power
consumption at design ambient and minimum ambient temperature
conditions. The provided motor rating will be the next higher standard
motor rating.
c) Check for selected motor rating suitability for the 110% flow case (as per
UOP 4-13-11 Clause 2.1)
1. Ait flow rate per fan at the 110% case and the corresponding static
pressure will be taken from the HTRI report for the 110% air flow
case.
2. Using this data and the fan performance curves (provided along
with the base case), the fan efficiency will be obtained.
3. Fan absorbed power at design ambient temperature will be
calculated as per below formula.
Power (kW) = actual air flow per fan (m3/sec) x Static pressure
(mmWC) / (102 x fan efficiency).
The provided motor rating should not be less than the above
calculated fan absorbed power.
d) Check for suitability of motor to meet 120% of summer design power (as
per Clause 4.14 of Doc.no.: 44AD0600-00/V.02/0126/A4)
1. The provided motor rating should not be less than 1.2 times the fan
absorbed power at the design ambient air conditions (as calculated
in step 2b).
e) If the selected motor rating meets the conditions stated in 2c and 2d, then
the selected fan and motor rating are adequate for the unit.

Please review above points and acceptance/remark on priority.
