ME – 2 / A6 Module 1 Activity 1

1. A. According to Aristotle poet is an imitation of life because sometime in an


entertainment, drama or play the one that cause the imitation is the gestures and
moves of the reader. We can see that through the moves and acting skills of the
actor of the play, the poet is making the imitation of life and the poet is the one
who speaks to them. With the gestures and moves happening in a play it is like
happening in real life.
B. Poet is the imitation of life because of the feelings being imitated, the
feeling like we have. It means that poetry itself especially in action is not a
historical but more on theoretical side.
C. Poet is an imitation of life because it involves imaginations and different
perceptions which comes to the five sense of the human being. When reading
poetry, our senses as reader is coming alive.
D. Poet is an imitation of life because of the feelings of the human beings.
When reading the poet, we could feel different kinds of emotion could be
sadness, happiness, confusion etc.

2. Catharsis means that when seeing a suffering or a tragic moment it is the


feeling of purification or other term pleasure. This mitigates us in a method of
seeing a good metaphor or an unfortunate moment. They said that all happy
ending will not make the readers or the viewers happy but also suffering
moments can give us signs of relief.

3. Proper pity is a feeling of pain, giving sympathy to the person or character


who will feel destruction, pain and should not the one deserves it. And we think
that it might happen to us, my family or to my friends. Therefore, it isn't felt by the
individuals who at this point don't have anything to lose, or by the individuals who
feel that they are past adversity.

4. Tragic fear is related to humanity, because fear is inclination and its


normal for human beings to feel. Every tragedy carries the sense of pity and fear.
It is only through our feelings that our connection with them combines. What we
care for and value makes us feel sorry for them and dread for them, and in this
manner the opposite additionally occurs: our sensations of pity and dread cause
us to perceive what we care for and treasure.
