Your Business’ Costs Worksheet

Directions: List the various costs you will incur starting and operating your business in the spaces provided
below. Sort your costs into the three types of costs: Startup, COGS, and SG&A.

1. Startup Costs - Costs that a business will incur before opening the doors for business. Examples:
equipment, trademarks, legal, building/warehouse, labor, website development, materials, sample
products/prototype, initial inventory, etc.

2. COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) - Costs associated with building the product or providing the service.
Examples: product materials, production labor, production facilities, warehouse/manufacturing facilities,
machinery leases, production supplies, packaging, etc.

3. SG&A (Selling, General and Administrative Costs) - Costs to operate the business that are not related to
building inventory or performing the service. Examples: rent, insurance, advertising, supplies, utilities,
employee compensation, web hosting services, payroll processing services, etc.

COGS:
