Question Number 1:
⮚ Explain the characteristics of good/appropriate IMs and technology tools in learning for your field of
specialization in the attainment of TTL.

The best way to attain an efficient, productive, and successful teaching and learning is the use of
instructional materials. It is said that instructional materials contribute to the students teaching and learning
process which is indeed very true. IM’s help improve students’ knowledge and skills and teacher’s management
of the class requirements. Traditional IM’s are commonly used but because of the emergence of technology,
technological tools are now used as instructional materials in teaching. The following are the characteristics of
good IMs and technological toools.
Teaching aids are large enough to be seen by the students for whom they are used. Teaching aids are
meaningful and they always stand to serve a useful purpose.Teaching aids are upto the mark and upto date in
every respect. Teaching aids are simple , cheap and may be improvised. Teaching aids are accurate and
realistic.
Teaching aids are according to the mental level of the learners. Their purpose may be informative but it is not
just entertainment. Teaching aids helps in realization of stipulated learning objects. Teaching aids are really
very useful and can be used in many lessons and at different class levels. Teaching aids are useful for
supplementing the teaching process but they cannot replace the teacher.
The concept of Educational Technology as a subject may find expression through the following points.
It is the systematic application of scientific knowledge and experience to education. It aims at increasing
efficiency in teaching-learning activity. Also, it gives stress on the development and use of new methods and
techniques for effective learning. It shifts the emphasis from the teacher to the learner in the matter of learning
and teaching. It controls the environment, its media, and the method in order to give better results in learning.
Further, it makes use of multi-media in learning like audiovisual aids, hardware, and software, mass-media
technology, etc. It involves human and non-human resources in the process of learning. It provides technical
guidance and assistance to the solution of the problems in education.Educational technology tries to bring about
desired changes in the traditional methods for more efficiency and the economy of learning. The use of
instructional materials is a big help for the teacher to facilitate the teaching-learning process.

These are vital in motivating and arousing students’ interest. IMs enable teachers and students to
participateactively and effectively in lesson sessions. They give room for acquisition of skills and knowledge and
development of self-confidence and self-actualization. So, by the help of technology tools in language learning
and teaching, effective teaching and learning can be achieve.

⮚ Research and discuss comprehensively Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) in the attainment
of TTL.

Computer-assisted language Learning  (CALL) is an approach to teaching and learning in which the
computer and computer-based resources such as the Internet are used to present, reinforce and assess
material to be learned. It usually includes a substantial interactive element. It also includes the search for and
the investigation of applications in language teaching and learning.   Except for self-study software, CALL is
meant to supplement face-to-face language instruction, not replace it. 
CALL has also been known by several other terms such as technology-enhanced language learning, computer-
assisted language instruction (Davies) and computer-aided language learning but the field is the same. Software
used in a CALL environment can be designed specifically for foreign/second language learning or adapted for
this purpose. Most language textbook publishers offer educational software of some sort, whether it is meant to
support a paper textbook or to stand alone for self-study.  

Most programs designed for language learning are tutorials. These generally are drill programs that
consist of a brief introduction plus a series of questions to which the learner responds and then the computer
gives some kind of feedback. With these kinds of programs, the material to be learned may already be
programmed in by the publisher, which is more common, or may allow the instructor to program in the material
to be learned.

Programs not designed specifically for language learning can be adapted for this purpose. Generally,
these are task-based activities where the stated goal is something other than language learning; however, using
the target language is essential for getting the task done. For example, with Facemaker, students create
different faces by using words in the language to command the computer.  Role-playing games, where the user
creates and controls a character in a fantasy realm, can be used in this man ner as well.

Schools these days make use of technology more than ever before; in fact, for teachers, there are
always more and more apps to download on their and their students’ mobile devices that are created
specifically for educational purposes. In the online stores and in particular, in those of Google Play and Apple
store, there are many free of charge apps with each one including its own specific features.

Thanks to the app developers, people with Android devices can now carry out studies online and/or get
quicker and easier access to the information they need, as long as they have the required mobile app installed
on their android phones.
 
With an Android device, education now goes beyond the four walls of a classroom. And with
educational mobile apps, information can now reach a wider audience. Thereby, making it possible for people to
be able to get the information they would have learned in a classroom. Now, Android phones serve as
classrooms or lecture centers while the information on mobile apps serves as the lectures. With this simple
analysis, it is safe to say that the app developers developing these educational mobile apps should be
appreciated.
Mobile app developers from app development companies know that the best way to get people’s
attention to study using mobile apps is to develop exciting and user-friendly mobile apps. So, they decided to
develop games that are meant to test people’s level of reasoning or how well they know a particular subject or

idea to come up with such a concept. This concept is working perfectly because people enjoy using these

requires a lot of brainstorming, expertise and experience.
