Learning Activities
A. Introduction It is the total distance around a polygon. It can be found by adding together
Panimula all the sides of the polygon. In this lesson you will learn to apply your
knowledge and skills in finding a perimeter of a polygon by solving routine
and nonroutine problems in real-life situation involving perimeter of squares,
rectangles, triangles, parallelograms and trapezoids.

Let’s recall first the steps in problem solving. Remember this acronym AGONSA.
 Asked – What is asked?
 Given – What are given?
 Operation – What operation/s will you use?
 Number Sentence – What is the number sentence?
 Solve - How is the solution done?
 Answer – What is the answer to the problem?

Now let’s solve this word problem.

The tablecloth of a reading
Day 1 table in your home has a length of
85 cm and width of 65 cm. You
want to decorate the tablecloth by
putting lace around it. For the
edging of the tablecloth, how long
of lace is needed?

Asked – The length of the lace needed to decorate the tablecloth.

Given – 85 cm length and 65 cm width
Operation – addition
Number Sentence – P = 85 cm + 85 cm + 65 cm + 65 cm
Solve – P = 85 cm + 85 cm + 65 cm + 65
cm P = 300 cm
Answer – You need 300 cm long lace for the edging of the table cloth
