Description:

Use this software screen to:

Perform analyzer diagnostics:


The analyzer must be in a stop mode before diagnostics can be accessed. The menu consists
of 3 pages of mostly hardware components which can be reset or moved in their normal
operation to test proper operation when troubleshooting.

1. Select [Maintenance], [Maker Maintenance], [ANL Diag.].

2. Use your mouse to select the item to check. Explanations of each function follow this
procedure.

3. Press the STAT ROTATION/DIAG Switch on the analyzer to perform the selection.

Explanation of functions:

Sample Probe
A/Reset: Aligns the sample probe in its home position.
B/Up/Down Step: Moves the sample probe 1 step vertically (up/down).
C/Rotation Step: Moves one step between the wash station and items selected. Select
the following: From (rack, cuvette, STAT table, or wash/STD table) and To (cuvette,or
ISE).
D/Up-Down Pulse: Pulses the sample probe the number of steps specified from 1 to
999.
E/Rotation Pulse: Pulses the sample probe clockwise or counterclockwise the number of
steps specified from 1 to 999.
F/Sequence: Performs a sequence according to the selection.
"Rack" samples from the rack.
"STAT" samples from the STAT table.
"Wash/STD" Samples from the wash standard position. This option can only be
selected if "To" is set to ISE.
"Cuv." samples from the STAT table.
"ISE" samples from the STAT table.

Sample Syringe
G/Reset: Aligns the sample syringe in its home position.
H/Up and Down: Moves the sample syringe 1 step vertically (up/down).

Reagent Probe
I/Reset: Aligns the reagent probe in its home position.
J/Up and Down: Moves the reagent probe 1 step vertically (up/down).
K/Rotation: Moves the reagent probe 1 step horizontally. Select the following: From
(inner, outer, or dilution bottle) and To (cuvette).
L/Up-Down Pulse: Pulses the reagent probe the number of steps specified from 1 to
999.
M/Rotation Pulse: Pulses the reagent probe clockwise or counterclockwise the number
of steps specified from 1 to 999.
N/Sequence: Performs a complete sequence including movement from the wash well,
reagent compartment to cuvette wheel.

Reagent Syringe
O/Reset: Aligns the reagent syringe in its home position.
P/Up and Down: Moves the reagent syringe 1 step (up/down).

Refrigerator (Reagent)
Q/Reset: Resets the reagent compartment.
R/Rotation: Rotates the compartment according to user specifications (CW, CCW, Step
1-76. For complete rotation select 76.)
S/Pulse: Pulses the reagent compartment clockwise or counterclockwise the number of
steps specified from 1 to 999.

All Pumps
T/On: Activates pumps.
U/Off: Deactivates pumps.

Select the tab located in the upper left corner of the screen called Mix/Wheel/Nozzle.

Mix
A/Reset: Aligns the mix bar unit in its home position.
B/Up and Down Step: Moves the mix unit 1 step vertically (up/down).
C/Rotation Step: Moves the mix unit horizontally to the next position.
D/Up-Down Pulse: Pulses the mix unit the number of steps specified from 1 to 999.
E/Rotation Pulse: Pulses the mix unit clockwise or counterclockwise the number of
steps specified from 1 to 999.
F/Mix Rotation: Spins the mix bars.
G/Sequence: Performs a complete sequence from mixing to moving to the next
position.

Wash Nozzle
H/Reset: Aligns the wash nozzle in its home position.
I/Up and Down Step: Moves the wash nozzle unit 1 step vertically (up/down).
J/Up-Down Pulse: Pulses the wash nozzle unit the number of steps specified from 1 to
999.
K/Sequence: Performs a wash nozzle sequence.

Rack Receiver
L/Reset: Resets the rack receiver unit.
M/Push-Pull: Rack bar moves forward and backward.
N/Stopper On-Off: Moves the stop bar forward and backward each time the STAT
ROTATION/DIAG Switch is pressed.

Cuvette Wheel
O/Reset: Aligns the cuvette wheel in its home position.
P/Rotation: Rotates the cuvette wheel according to user specifications. (Clockwise,
counterclockwise, step 1 to 88)
Q/Pulse: Pulses the cuvette wheel the number of steps specified from 1 to 999.
R/Magnet Off: Removes power to the pulse motor. To reset select "O/Reset."

Rack Collection
S/Reset: Aligns CC with CB assembly.
T/Forward: Moves forward one pitch feed at a time.
U/Back: Aligns CC with CD assembly.

Cup Position Rack Step
A/Reset: Resets the unit.
B/Step 1 (1 Pitch): Resets the pitch move motor at the cup position.
C/Step 2 (Release): Resets the pitch move motor at the sample position.

ID Rotation
D/Reset: Resets the unit.
E/Step 1 (R<->S): Resets the pitch move motor at the cup position.
F/Step 2 (S<->S'): Resets the pitch move motor at the sample position.
G/Pulse: Pulses the ID rotation unit the number of steps specified from 1 to 999.

Sample Position Rack Step


H/Reset: Resets the unit.
I/Step 1 (1 Pitch): Resets the pitch move motor at the sample position.
J/Step 2 (Release): Retracts both pawls of the pitch feed assembly.

STAT
K/Reset: Aligns the STAT table in its home position.
L/Rotation: Rotates the STAT table according to user specs. (CW, CCW, step 1 to 18)
M/Pulse: Pulses the STAT table the number of steps specified from 1 to 999.

Rack Feed
N/Normal: Feeds rack(s) onto the analyzer.
O/Auto Repeat Run: Feeds repeat rack(s) onto the analyzer.

Rack Feeder
P/Reset: Resets the rack feeder.
Q/Forward: Moves rack(s) forward.
R/Back: Moves rack(s) backward.

Select the tab located in the upper left corner of the screen called Combination.
Photometer Check
A/0-100%: Performs a 0% and 100% photometer check on a specified cuvette. The
check is performed at 13 wavelengths.
B/0-100% Sequence: The specified cuvette is measured 20 times. Results are
calculated from the average value, range, SD & CV. Results are printed.
C/Rotation: Performs a 100% Photometer Check on cuvettes 1 to 13, using all
wavelengths as primary and secondary.
D/Rotation Sequence: Performs a 100% Photometer Check on cuvettes 1 to 13, using
all wavelengths as primary and secondary, measured 20 times.

Whole
E/Reset: Aligns all mechanical parts to their home position.
F/Magnet Off: Removes all power from pulse motors. To reset select "E/Reset."

Barcode Read
G/S. ID: Reads sample ID at cup position.
H/S. ID Movement: Performs a complete rack sequence and reads S. ID data.
I/Rack ID: The rack located in the "rack ID read position" is read.
J/Rack ID Movement: The barcode reader is activated.
K/STAT: The STAT cup data is read.
L/STAT Movement: Performs a STAT rotation and reads the S. ID data.
M/Reagent ID: Reads reagent ID in the reagent compartment.
N/Reagent ID Movement: Reads the reagent ID while moving in the reagent
compartment.
O/Rack Kind: Identifies rack type in rack ID position.

P/Sample Counter: Increments the sample counter.


Q/Probe Wash: The wash wells are activated.
R/8 bit LED: Performs a diagnostic sequence of the 8 bit LED.
S/SUB CPU Check: Performs a diagnostics check of the photometer and optical sub-
CPUs.

Perform a calibration from diagnostics:


1. Place the analyzer in a stop mode. For information on preparing for a calibration, see
the "Performing Calibrations and a Reagent Blank" section located in the Basic
Operations Chapter.

2. Select [Maintenance], [Maker Maintenance], [ISE Diag].

3. The calibration begins as soon as one of the following is selected: I/Calibration for
serum, J/Calibration for urine, K/Calibration for serum +urine.

Perform a sequence 1 (rack):
The sequence 1 measurement will measure a sample 10 times and calculate statistics. Place
the sample in a rack, or on the STAT table. ISE precision and performance can be analyzed.
1. Place a tube with the low serum standard in position one in a rack.

2. Put the rack on the transport belt so the front of the rack is up to the pitch feeder in the
sample aspiration position.

3. Select Seq. 1 (Rack). Start Sequential Meas. 1-Rack? Yes.

4. Analyze the data printout. The results of the 10 sequential samples will print with the
average, max, min, range, and CV results. Verify the CV is within the acceptable range.

Explanation of functions:
Prime
A/Total Prime: Primes all solutions.
B/Buffer Prime: A one cycle buffer solution prime is performed.
C/Mid/Ref Prime: A one cycle standard solution prime is performed.
D/Drain-Electrode: Liquid is drained from the sample pot through the electrode for
electrode replacement. Use this function when replacing bypass tubing.
E/Drain-Bypass: Liquid is drained from the sample pot through the bypass tubing.

F/Mix: Mix rod is moved for 3 seconds.
G/Overflow Sensor: Checks the overflow sensor and thermistor.
H/Thermistor: Checks thermistor voltage.

Calibration Selectivity
I/Calibration for Serum: Calibrates serum.
J/Calibration for Urine: Calibrates urine.
K/Calibration for Serum & Urine: Calibrates serum and urine.
L/Selectivity: Performs a selectivity check.

Reset
M/Reset: Aligns all ISE mechanical parts in their home positions.

Measurement
N/Rack: A single sample from a rack.
O/STAT: A single sample from position #11 on the STAT table.
P/Sequence 1 (Rack): Samples 10 times from the same sample in the rack.
Q/ Sequence 1 (STAT): Samples 10 times from the same sample in STAT table
position #11.
R/Sequence 2: Pulls mid-standard solution through the flowcell 10 times & calculates
statistics.
S/Sequence 3: Mid-standard is pulled through the flowcell 1 time & measures 10 times.

Description:

This screen displays an alarm list of previous alarms and screens accessed on the system up
to 2,000 events. Use this menu to determine recent or common alarms (past alarms).

If an alarm is occurring at this time, corrective actions are located in the alarm help function.
To start alarm help, select the icon located at the top of the screen with the triangle and
exclamation point.

Use this software screen to:


Display an alarm list:
1. Select [Maintenance], [Maker Maintenance], [Alarm Log].

2. Use the pull-down menu or << >> buttons to select a date on which you wish to view
the alarm log.

Print an alarm list:


1. From the [Alarm Log] screen press function key F3 (print)

2. Choose "Displayed Date" and "All Date." Displayed date only prints the date selected.
All date prints alarm logs for all dates.

3. Select "OK." Printing begins.

Use this screen to save/load parameters to/from a floppy disk.

Save or load parameters to/from a floppy:

Instruction
If a floppy is removed from the drive while data is being saved, the data being saved or
stored in the floppy may be lost. Floppy disks for parameter storage have an “AU400
PARAM” volume label. They can be formatted using the [FD Data Management] screen of
the [Maintenance] menu.

1. Select [Maintenance], [Maker Maintenance], [File Management].

2. Under the "Operation" column, select either "Save Files to FD" or "Load Files from FD."

3. Under the "Files" column, select the parameters to save or load.

4. Select function key F5 (execute) and insert the floppy. Start? Yes.

5. The selected files will revert to the background color when the operation is complete.
