RMIT's Business Performance Improvement (BPI) team is focused on supporting and empowering staff and
partners with clearer, smarter and simpler systems and processes.
The team mentor and collaborate across the university's portfolios, schools and business areas to enable priority
performance improvements, ensuring the university provides a transformative experience for students and staff.

Position Summary
This role will be responsible and accountable for supporting the uni-wide process and operation analysis and
redesign utilizing continuous process improvement methodologies to improve quality, productivity, customer
(student and staff) experience and compliance to internal and external policies, regulatory obligations and
ultimately reduce the university's cost to serve. It will require the mentoring and support of a complex matrix of
Business Units and conducting continuous improvement workshops and initiatives to develop business cases and
process improvements to the point where they are ready for execution.

Organisational Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities
1. Identify and deliver process improvements and efficiency savings through the revision of business
processes with minimal technology changes
2. Developing and documenting ‘As Is’ and ‘To Be’ process maps in compliance to enterprise process
mapping standards and tools (e.g BPMN 2.0 notations)
3. Work with the provided process modelling framework to mentor and support a University wide cultural
change to continuous process and performance improvement
4. Conduct thorough diagnosis of business processes and operations, document and present
recommendations and provide detailed assessment of cost, benefits and risks
5. Facilitate workshops and projects with broad cross-section of stakeholders, customers and partners to
deliver the right outcome
6. Work with solution architects, solution designers, business analysts, business SMEs and other
stakeholders to assess, design and deliver an efficient and effective process solution
Key Selection Criteria
Extensive demonstrated experience (5-7 years) in business analysis, business process mapping and
business process re-engineering
Demonstrated experience in building and cultivating effective partnerships with a broad range of
stakeholders from idea to delivery
Detailed understanding of project management disciplines (eg Prince2, PMBoK) and process improvement
methodologies eg Six Sigma, Lean tools)
Demonstrated experience in self-motivating, self-directed value driven working style with ability to partner
with business teams to improve their processes and process knowledge
Knowledge of business requirements gathering, analysis and process mapping techniques
Excellent communication, facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills
Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
