HR competency is the combination of skills and personal attributes that play a vital role

to enhance the employee performance and improve the efficiency and productivity of
the organization. In this scenario i will be talking about Agha khan university hospital.
The Agha Khan university hospital aims to provide high standards of health care. They
are committed to work together to ensure that people receive outstanding medical
services and compassionate care. Moreover they also aim to develop effective and
integrated health service delivery systems.

The hospital executes ethical framework within the organization as one of its core
competences. The hospital makes sure that people who are underprivileged and don't
have enough resources are provided with the basic health care facilities.The people
who don't have access to resources are given free medicines , check-ups and
operation facilities The management of the hospital allocates a special fund for the
people who don't have access to basic health facilities and uses the fund to cater the
needs of the people who don't have access to these resources. Moreover the hospital
also runs a school in which children are given free education so that they can be
responsible citizens in future. This ethical practice within the organization helps the
business to build a good reputation amongst the customer and also helps the
organization to refrain from long term court cases. Moreover by adapting ethics the
organization can charge higher prices to its customers.

At this particular organization you can see great communication skills within the
organization. This also serves as great core competency. When a patient arrives at the
hospital a different team of different doctors evaluate the patient. With two way
communication within the organization the team of different doctors discuss on how to
treat the patient. By great communication they are able to treat the patient with great
care. This helps the organization to satisfy the needs of the patient and ultimately
charge higher prices which eventually leads to higher profit margins. Moreover two way
communication helps to keep the health care workers engaged and motivated. This
motivated workforce helps to great good customer relationships which helps the
organization to improve brand image and customer loyalty in the long run. This
customer loyalty helps to retain the patients in the longer run.

Coaching is also one of the core competencies that practiced at this particular
organization. As students of MBBS graduate and it is compulsory for them to complete
their house job, this particular organization makes sures that the students are given
proper training so that they build on their strengths and improve their weaknesses. More
over the existing employees are also given on and off job training. The training
programs include global training programs and seminars. These global training
programs help the employees to build up on their skills which can be beneficial for the
organization and the employee. These training programs help the organization to retain
employees in longer run which ultimately helps the business to save recruitment and
selection cost because hiring new employees is costly and time consuming.Similarly
this also serves as a recruitment and selection tool as potential employees will be willing
to work for this particular organization.
