COURSE DESCRIPTION

Legal Aspects of Education details the principles underlying school laws and provides
essential guidelines for school personnel to follow in their everyday work. This course
explores how basic legal principles apply to educational questions and emerging legal
issues, and policies that affect classroom teachers, leaders, and students.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the semester, students should be able to:


1. State and examine some laws and legal issues on students, parents, and
teachers.
2. Express appreciation for the government laws to improve Philippine
education;
3. Discuss the pros and cons of the current laws in education,

4. Make ethically and acceptable administrative decisions, and


5. recommend some improvements on the present laws governing the
educational system in the Philippines

IV. SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES

Online Learning Method will be used. Thus, students should be computer literate. The
teacher and the student/s will agree on their time for online learning. Zoom or Google
Connect will be used for acquisition. Students will report on the topics assigned to
them.

Before the course begins: orientation to introduce learners to the learning


environment and the course will be made.

At the beginning of the course: Teacher and students will walk through the
Syllabus; students will be given the topics to be reported on and be presented via
online. Students’ reports will be put in the Canvas.

During the course: Assessment of report presentations and students´ progress of


learning as well as competencies developed are made throughout the semester.
Students´ assessment is done by both the students and the teacher.

At the end of the course: Students and teacher assess teaching and learning
together and improvement pursued afterwards.

IV. REQUIREMENTS

In addition to assigned readings and online presentation of students, students will


submit answers to the questions given for the modules

a) Portfolio-Your file in EM 503 will be compiled during the term and will be
evaluated by the teacher on the last day of semester.
