Introduction and motivation

Chatbots are gradually reducing hospital wait times, consultation

times, unnecessary treatments, and hospital readmissions by
connecting patients with the right healthcare providers and helping
patients understand their conditions and treatments even without
visiting a doctor. Chatbots provide instant conversational responses
and make connecting simple for patients. And when implemented
properly, they can help care providers to surpass patient expectations
and improve patient outcomes. With a chatbot comes easy, automated,
even allocation and distribution of the patient on the hospital further
reducing pressure on the appointment lists. Communicating with
these chatbots will easily inform patients with which drugs they
should take as their medication, simplifying the whole procedure.

Problem statement

Customer care is not always available, in some cases patients and

people fall sick unexpectedly anytime even during the deep night and
there might not be nurses or doctors to answer health issues or book
appointments with. As a result, the introduction of the Doctor
assistant chatbot will definitely manage to eliminate most questions
and queries from patients and people towards Medical Services.
Chatbots decrease pressure on the Hospital system telecommunication
department as they will tackle a certain section of questions from
medical attention seekers.

Project scope
Patients face a challenge of having to call, email or go the hospital just
to book an appointment or to just ask a medical query which does not
specifically have to answered by a specialist. To help with the issues
mentioned above, the chatbot will be able to assist patients book an
appointment or address their medical queries without them having to
call, email or visit the hospital. The chatbot will be deployed onto a
hospital’s website or social media apps such as WhatsApp. The bot
will be trained to answer quite a number of basic questions as well as
ask questions and get information from the patients. To measure the
success of the chatbot, we shall analyse the data and responses given
by the chatbot and the time taken to give the responses.

A device that will execute the chatbot software and participate in its
creation as well

The language in which the chatbot will be written in.

AIML
Is an XML dialect which will be used to create natural language
software for the chatbot.
