APPROACH PROCEDURE:

STEP 1:
When ready, (assuming you are cleared to leave holding) press the vertical revision key
adjacent to “IMM EXIT” line (2R key) on the F-PLN Page to exit the holding and to proceed
BD902:

STEP 2:
Assuming ATC clears you; descend to 3,000 ft. Engage LS pushbutton to display ILS
indications on PFD and check ILS IDENT (that is normally done passing FL100 in descent).

STEP 3:
After BD902, you are cleared by ATC for ILS approach runway 23. Arm approach mode
through FCU pushbutton to enable the engagement of LOC and G/S modes.

Check engagements through FMA

Then engage the second AP for CAT III DUAL approach and check FMA indications.

STEP 4:
To configure the aircraft before landing, you have to decelerate it. Deceleration can be
done through two ways:
- Either overflying magenta deceleration point*,
- Or activating approach phase through PERF Page.

* Deceleration point activation depends on automation engaged:

- In managed lateral mode (NAV, LOC) deceleration point is magenta and is active.
- In selected lateral mode (TRK, HDG) is white, and so inactive, in that case you have
to activate APPROACH PHASE manually.

By default, deceleration point is set for a decelerated approach (aircraft stabilized at 1,000ft
AAL).

Passing deceleration point, aircraft will decelerate with Slats/Flaps extension**. For ILS
approaches, we perform a decelerate approach: it means that we extend
Slats/Flaps/Landing gear during final descent.

**
Configuration Speed target
Clean Green Dot speed
F1 S speed
F2 F speed
F3 F speed or Vappr (if F3 in Approach Perf page)
Full Vappr

Passing the VFE NEXT (amber double dashes), set FLAPS 1:

Continue to configure your aircraft when passing 2,000 ft AAL.

Note: Extension sequence is the following,

FLAPS 1 > FLAPS 2 > L/G*** > FLAPS 3 > FLAPS FULL

*** After Landing Gear down, arm Ground Spoilers

STEP 5:
When Glide-slope Star mode engage (GS*), set the go-around altitude (published on
Charts) on the FCU in order to prepare the go-around phase.

AUTOMATIC LANDING:

When the aural message “RETARD” is played, or “THR IDLE” is indicated on FMA,

Set thrust levers to IDLE and monitor automatic landing until aircraft stops.

Note: When touchdown, set Max Reverse until 70 kts then reset thrust levers to REV IDLE
and at taxi speed, IDLE.

GO-AROUND:

STEP 1:

- Push thrust levers to TOGA detent and retract one step of flaps (the call out is “Go-
around, Flaps”).

- When positive climb, gear up.

STEP 2:

At Thrust Reduction altitude, “LVR CLB” flashes on FMA.

Reduce Thrust Levers to CLB detent. Arrange to have NAV mode active on the FMA.
Finally, follow F-PLN and proceed to holding at ETPAR before performing a new approach.
Comply with speed and altitude constraints published on Charts.

STEP 3:

- When F Speed is reached, set FLAPS 1.

- When S Speed is reached, set Clean Configuration.
- When in Clean Configuration, disarm Ground Spoilers.

STEP 4:

While performing a go-around, go-around phase is activated. It is no more useful

now. You can recover climb or cruise phase entering intended cruise level on PROG page
assuming you activated the approach phase before.

Note – F-PLN SEQUENCING:

It is important to have the F-PLN sequenced in the FM as you fly an approach in order to
recover the NAV mode in case of Go-around.

- In case of use of managed mode, the sequencing is automatic.

- In case of selected mode, (TRK/HDG, if you are RADAR Vectored for example), you
have to do it by yourself:

o Either by clearing manually all the lines above the final descent point or,

o By inserting a direct to final descent point with the RAD IN option (radar
opposite of the final course). Caution, inserting a DIR TO arms NAV mode in
selected mode (TRK/HDG). Think to cancel it by pulling HDG knob to avoid
spurious interception.
