What is bioplastic?

Due to the prohibition of the usage of plastic in the Philippines ( with the town of Los Banos being the
pioneer of the law that banned the use of plastics). The government implement the use of biodegradable plastics
or commonly known as ‘Bioplastics’. So what is bioplastic?

Bioplastic- it is a form of plastic derived from renewable biomass sources such as vegetable oil, starch and other
cellulosic materials, instead of fossil fuel plastic derived from petroleum ( non-renewable resources) which is
harmful for the environment. The materials used in making bioplastics are those that are considered as waste
materials.

Since most of the available bioplastic were made up of starch extracted from plant by-products, we came
with the idea to use different material that is readily available and abundant on our town. The town of Los Banos
