Introduction
For other srudents, ESP subject is basic because it is
almost all about personality and moral values but
many students said that ESP is a difficult subject during
the examination because you are going to understand
each question to know what is the best answer. 16
students of grade 10 got 40 plus scores on the test and
the highest is 46. There are 4 students who got the
lowest frequency table first.

Problems
1. Solve for the mean, median and mode
2. Find the Q1 and D7.
3. Find the 45th percentile

Discussion and Interpretation

1.a.) Before solving the problems, you have to do the
frequency distribution table first. But you need to get
the class interval and class size to do the frequency
distribution table. You can get the class interval using
the formula class interval= √n and the class size using
the formula class= range
No. of class intervals
Class interval= √n
=√87
= 9.33 (round up)
Class interval= 10
Class size= range
No. of class intervals
= 46-20
10
= 26
10
=2.6 (round up)
Class size= 3

b.) Solve the mean by using the formula x = ∑fx
N
Solution:
x = ∑fx = 3043 = 34.98
N 87
So the mean is 34.98
c.) To find the median, you have to know the median
class first. It can be calculated using the formula N/2.
After it, you can solve now the median with the
formula of Median = L+ N- Cfb
2 i
fm

where:
L= Lower Boundary of median class
N= no. of data
Cfb= Cumulative frequency before the median class
fm= frequency of the median class
i= class size

Median class= N/2

= 87
2
Median class= 43.5 score

L= 34.5 Median fm= 20

N= 87 i= 3
Cfb= 4

Median= L+ N – Cfb

=34.5 + 7.5
20
=34.5 + 0.38
Median= 34.88

d. To solve the mode of given data, you have to know

the modal class first. It is the class interval where the
highest frequency lies. Then you can now solve the
mode by applying the formula Mode= L+ 1 i

where:
L= Lower boundary of the modal class
1= difference between the frequency of the modal
class and the frequency before the modal class
2= difference between the frequency of modal class
and the frequency after the modal class
i= class size
The modal class is in the class interval of 35-37 because
it has the highest frequency which is 20.
Mode: Mode= L + 1 i
L= 34.5
1= 20-12= 8
2= 20-26= 4 = 34.5 8 3
i= 3 8+4
=34.5 8 3

=34.5 24
12
=34.5 + 2
Mode= 36.5

2. a.) Before finding the Q1, you need to locate first the
Q1 class. You can get it using the formula KN/4.
Afer determining the Q1 class, you can now solve for 4
the Q1. It can be solve using the formula
Q1= L + KN -Cfb i
4
fm

Solution:
Q1 class= KN = 87
4 4
= 1 (87) = 21. 75
4

Q1= L + KN – Cfb i L= 28.5

4 KN/4= 21.75
Fm Cfb= 19
fm= 10
= 28.5 + 21.75 – 19 3 i= 3
10

= 28.5 + 2.75 3
10
= 28.5 + 8.25
10
= 28.5 + 0.825
Q1= 29. 325

b.) In finding the D7, you need to find first the D7 class.
It can be calculated using the formula KN/10. And after
it you can now solve the D7 using the formula
D7= L + KN - Cfb i
10

Solution:

D7 class= KN
10
= 7 (87)
10
= 609
10
=60.9

D7= L + KN - Cfb I L= 34.5

10 KN/10= 60.9
fm Cfb= 41
fm= 20
= 34.5 + 60.9 – 41 3 i= 3
20

= 34.5 + 19.9 3
20
= 34.5 + 59.7
20
= 34.5 + 2. 985
D7= 37.49

3.In finding P45, you need to locate first the P45 class
by using the formula KN/100. After it, you may now
solve the P45 using the formula P45= L + KN – Cfb
100 i
fm
Solution:
P45 class= KN
100
= 45 (87)
100 L= 31.5
= 3915 KN/100= 39.15
100 Cfb= 29
P45= 39.15 fm= 12
i= 3
P45= L + KN – Cfb i
100
fm
= 31.5 + 39.15 – 29 3 = 31.5 + 30.45
12 12

= 31.5 + 10.15 3 = 31.5 + 2.5375

12
P45= 34.04

Conclusion
In doing this report, we understand more the formulas
and solutions and its not easy like a simple math but
you have to follow the procedures to get the correct
answer. We all cooperate to make this Jerson
Gumatang, get the scores of the students, Mary Joy
Soliven solve the problems and Desiree Dela Cruz,
incode it in computer. We help eachother to achieve
and finish this project. The mean of data is 34.98. The
median is 34.88 and the mode is 36.5. The Q1 is
29.325, the D7 is 37.49 and the P45 is 34.04.

Reflection
We learn on this report the things that are important
to solve the measure of central tandency for grouped
data and the use of formulas. We need formulas to
solve the problems correctly. And also the importance
of unity and coordination of all members because we
need to unite for a better outcome or report.
