Discuss the ethical dimensions of this situation for Jamie, Carol, and Burris’ management.
Refer to the NSPE Code of Ethics for Engineers (Appendix A) for specific points of
concern.

Jamie
1. Jamie shouldn’t have helped Carol without knowing completely why she needs
the data.
2. He abused fundamental Canons mainly point 6.
3. He should have been attentive and he did not abide by Eules and practices point c
which clearly states “Engineers shall not reveal facts, data, or information without
the prior consent of the client or employer except as authorized or required by law
or this Code.
4. He shouldn’t have been personal with Carol when it came to confidential data that
also of free of cost.
5. It was not intended to harm the company he was innocent and did it because he
has half knowledge.

Carol
1. Carol hid some very important information from Jamie that her boss is also interested in
same project.
2. She was competitor of Jamie and did not tell him
3. She violated Code of Ethics for Engineers section III.9.a, which says, “Engineers shall,
whenever possible, name the person or persons who may be individually responsible for
designs, inventions, writings, or other accomplishments.”
4. She should’ve told Jamie the truth behind this favor she simply took advantage of her
friend

Burris Management
1. They should have investigated completely instead of just furloughing engineers.
2. They did not consider Jamie previous work and history.
3. They did not listen his side of story
4. They were too impatient just to remove people from work
.
