INTRODUCTION
DC Power Supplies ((9V/12V) are modular power supplies used as power source to
electronics equipment and industrial instrumentation. The regulated power supply
provides short circuit protection/over voltage protection in addition to maintain
load regulation and line regulation. The power supply is cost effective and
versatile. They are also termed as fixed voltage power supplies.

OBJECTIVE
The main objective of making this circuit is to regulate the DC power supply in
which 220 volts AC is regulated to 12 volts DC.

BACKGROUND
Our respectable teacher Eng. Fahad Mairaj give us a project to make a
variable DC power supply We got the idea of this project while reading the full
wave rectifier and almost every group use the full wave rectifier with little bit
changing in their circuit.

COMPONENTS
1. Transformer 220v-12v
2. 1N400 diode
3. 470 MF capacitor
4. 0.1 uF capacitor
5. 78xx IC

PRE-ASSEMBLING ON BREADBOARD:
Before making the circuit on wiro-board make it on the breadboard and we also
make it in LAB and our Lab assistants had also checked it.

WORKING
The main working principle of this project is full wave rectification
which is done by bridge configuration in which we are usi
n g 4 diodes which rectifies the output of the step-
d o w n t r a n s f o r m e r which step-down the 220 AC v to 12AC volts. Here
we are using a voltage regulator which give constant voltage, here we
are using 78xx which give 12 volts. These regulators are available in
various outputs like 6v, 9v, 12v and 15 v.

RESULTS
SO at the end our variable DC power supply is completed which give variable DC
12 volts.
