1. Why is it important for Cory Aquino to address the struggles and untimely death of her
husband in imploring international aid before the US Congress?

because his husband Ninoy Aquino was the opposition leader who stood up against the
powerful Marcus, he was jailed during martial law and spent 8 years in prison. In 1980 he was
permitted to travel to the United States to undergo a medical treatment upon his return to the
Philippines he was assassinated, due to his death the nation has stood up against the dictator and
because of this Cory became the next President of the Philippines, she wants us to know that his
husband suffered a lot to attain Democracy in the Philippines

2. If you were given the chance to write this speech with both Aquino and Locsin, what
issues in 1986 would you like to address with? State your reasons.

I would like to address is The Philippine presidential and vice-presidential elections of

1986 were held on February 7, 1986. it's popularly called the 1986 snap election, because at that
time Marcos’s supporters did everything to ensure victory, from bribery to coercion, to stealing
ballot boxes, to manipulating the counting then Marcos-controlled legislature proclaimed him as
a winner, with 10,807,197 votes to Cory’s 9,291,716 votes. Cory rejected the result and called
for a nonviolent protest movement, and that was the birth of People Power, a nonviolent way for
ordinary citizens to reclaim their freedom and bring about a peaceful transfer of power.
