The city of Tokyo was established in 1868 when Tokyo became the capital of Japan instead of Kyoto.
It is located on the east side of the main island, Honshu near the Tama River (which separates Tokyo
and Kanagawa) and Sumida River (which branches from the Arakawa River and flows into Tokyo
Bay). In the past people came to Tokyo because of many reasons; two of the reasons are that Tokyo
used to be a fishing village and the trading center. Today people come to Tokyo because of the
beautiful scenery, great food, safety and fashion. The population is 13 million or more (2010). The
major nationalities represented are Japanese (of course), Korean, Chinese, Americans, Filipino and
Britt’s. Some of the major industries and businesses today include Nintendo, Sony and Toyota. Today
people choose to live in Tokyo due to the good schools, safety and job opportunities. Therefore Tokyo
is now a huge spectacular city much like New York, but cleaner!

I was very excited about going Rome because there are so many historical places and the street was like a spider

THE LANDSCAPE OVER YEARS.....
The
Landscape
Over Years...
How New York City has Changed
Park Avenue is one of the major avenues in New York City. As a miniature of the city, these pictures of Park
Avenue not only show how the avenue changes over the years but also reflect how people have changed the
landscape of New York City from one side. The first photo (right) is Park Avenue in the 1950s. The second photo
(below) shows its current appearance.
Before, in the early 1950s, there was a railroad running across the city in the middle of the avenue and a few
old styled cars on the street. Few short and tall buildings stand across the street. The vast and endless blue sky
hugs the city with a faint trace of white clouds that are always smiling to people.
Then, around 1960s, humans started to change the landscape. A building project, the addition of the tall
skyscrapers and the grass and plants as a replacement of the railroad tracks was what changed this scene the
most.
It was changed because with the economy picking up, more and more people flowed to the city to make a
living, and hence the trains in the street are not enough and efficient for commuters. Instead, subways were used
as a new way of transportation. This is because subways are faster, easier to ride, and you don't have to wait for a
long time, and there is no traffic jam, either. All of these made subways the most efficient and convenient way to
travel around the city. Also with economy booming, many more companies were established or expanding and
many more people moved into the city. With limited land, people started to construct a lot more buildings and
high rising skyscrapers along the avenue to live or work. Because the city had no more space to expand out, it
expanded up.
What happened to Park Avenue also happened to many other parts of New York City. Today, because of
these changes, the city of New York is now like a giant full of nature stepped into a shrinking machine, and
turned into a human being, with a suit, and only has eyes for the economy. Numerous amounts of skyscrapers
and buildings are standing closely with each other on the streets, which blocked the beautiful blue sky, and it
seems like there is only a scrap of sky above us. Technology is more advanced, and the building materials in
fashion are now different. That's why most of the buildings now aren't made of bricks, but mostly made of
cement, steel, or glass, which also lasts longer, stronger and more beautiful.
The city probably has more pollution than before because the number of cars on the streets are increasing
sharply, and when a taxi passes by, you can smell the foul scent of gas. When the railroad was removed, the
government realized the need to be more environmentally friendly, and planted the path of the railroad with
plants, glass, flowers, etc., and day by day, the city is still growing, and learning from its mistakes.

8. Jingle bells, jingle bells! Rockefeller Center is an amazing place. You will really be lucky if you
come at Christmas, when you can watch the spectacular sight. It’s still as excellent when it’s not
Christmas, though!
6. This is what I call ‘the one with nature’. Central Park is New York
City’s top spots. This is one of the only parts of New York where nature is still preserved. If you
are someone who enjoys calm vacations, nature, and/or adventure/ hiking, then this is definitely
the place for you!
5. Ever dreamed of seeing New York City from its highest point? Ever thought of seeing one of
its major financial centers? Ever wondered what King Kong was holding on to would be like? Ever
seen the movie Elf, and where it was based in? Being in New York City is a great opportunity to
achieve all those goals. The Empire State Building allows many people to look up to it, as the tallest
building in New York.
4.My country ‘tis of thee. Sweet land of liberty… Smiles broaden while
others disappear when immigrants see Lady Liberty. Many people now enjoy
seeing the famous Statue of Liberty, or Lady Liberty, and don’t break out in
stress. There are many smaller Lady Liberty models in the world, but
why not see the original one?
3. In Fifth Avenue, there are plenty of shopping centers and you can shop, shop, shop all
day! However, a major biggie in this area is the glass Apple store. It is so amazing; many of
Apple’s newest creations are put there, and the builders put in a LOT of effort in building this
technological palace.
2. When you visit New York City, you have to visit the Museum of Natural History as well. Make
sure you stay late, and so you can watch as all of the things inside it become alive, like in Night at
the Museum! Just kidding, but when you go there, you can feel like you’re reliving history! By the
way, your exit pass is eating a Sabrett’s hot dog on the steps of this great museum!
1. We saved the best for last! This is where New York City really
gets one of its nicknames; the City that Never Sleeps. A lucky time to come would be New
Year’s Eve, when Times Square is lighted with all different colors, then counting down to
1, and announce it is a new year. However, without being here at that particular time
doesn’t mean that Times Square is boring! Jobs, shops, and anything else you can dream
of is aligned on this street! You can never be bored here!
! As you can see, New York City is a city with basically everything to do! Shops you want may just be around
the corner, and anything you want can be found there This city definitely deserved the title as “The City that Never Sleeps”.

There were many effects, which the Blitz caused. One of them was the

43,000 innocent men, women, and children killed during this horrific raid
and more than 2 million people were made homeless because of the Blitz.
On the other hand, there also were good effects, which the Blitz gave
England. Firstly, women got more involved and got more respect after the
war because they kept the country going while the men were gone for war.
The second good effect to London and the rest of England was the
enormous production rate, which occurred during the war. This boosted
the country’s economy more than ever before. Prime Minister Winston

TH E C H A NG E O F : LONDON
People have changed the landscape of London through the building of historical monuments such as Big Ben; these and
several wars changed London’s landscape. There are several different reasons for why people have changed London’s landscape.
The main reason for this is that is that noblemen and kings were a motivation for the building of the landscape of London. The
changes were that the buildings in early London were shorter than modern buildings today and the traffic then was less than the
current traffic today. The types of traffic include road blockage, road accidents, traffic jams weather and other natural traffic
causers.
The exact changes to the buildings in London were that the buildings height increased over time and there were fewer trees
surrounding the buildings than now. Also there was little traffic before in comparison with modern times. The major changes which
affected London’s landscape occurred in the early 20th century all through toward the 21st century. Architects in the early 20th
century saw the potential for London to be a city of skyscrapers and so they began building taller buildings and gradually over
tome traffic increased.
The effect of all of this was that there are now much taller buildings than before, traffic has increased over time and there are
now more trees being planted in the areas where early 20th century buildings stood. Because the bombings made large areas of
land be destroyed this therefore made it an area to build tall buildings.
In summary London’s landscape has changed through the advancement of technology and time.

in 1962, Seoul was placed under the control of the Prime Minister. With his help, the capital,

How did the Population of
Seoul Increase?
!Seoul is now a magnificent city and home for over 10 million people. The city was founded by the Chosun Empire in
1394. Later on, in 1910, the Japanese were completely under the rule of Seoul. When the Korean War occurred, from
1950-1953, Seoul was completely destroyed so the government and council of Seoul decided moved to Pusan (Busan).
During this period, millions of Koreans left the country looking for a new life abroad, making Seoul’s population decrease.
In 1964, with the help of the Korean minister, Seoul was moved back to its original place and then quickly transformed
into today’s important and modern city. This city wants to keep it a purely Korean nation with strict policies, which has
impacted the Seoul foreigner population big time. This was mainly the cause of many Koreans to return to the Seoul after
the war.
!!!!!!!!!!! This capital city is located on the northwest coast of South Korea, and twenty miles east of the Yellow Sea. In
addition, this made Seoul very important because of the possible trade and industry between the neighboring and
international countries. The city’s location has encouraged expansions of the trade and industries in the city. It also has the
perfect location to do business with Japan and China, which has the world’s largest global market. Most importantly, the
growth of trade and industries in the city, has contributed to the growth of both the city’s economy and the economy of
South Korea. Besides that, Seoul is a modern city and with high technology, which attracts teens and adults. Also, it has
78% mobile ownership and 91.8% Internet penetration. It also has over 100 performing arts centers and about 31,000
performances a year, making Seoul a cultural city with many talented people. More than 25,000 shops are opened 24 hours
and it has huge traditional shopping areas. Seoul is filled also with many multinational and corporations whose
headquarters are in Seoul. Downtown Seoul, has a lot of banks and stocks changes, making Seoul a frequent international
business meeting point. Seoul is a busy city with millions of jobs, education, businesses, and shops. These are some of the
main reasons that make Seoul such an interesting and attractive city with such a high population.! In addition, it’s also
home to some of the world’s largest corporations like LG Groups, Samsung, Kia Motors, and Hyundai. There are
numerous parks and recreational areas where families and people of all ages can enjoy the green areas, the equipment and
the excellent basic facilities like bathrooms, resting areas and convenience stores. Also, from many parts of the city, there
are walking trails that allow you to be in minutes in the middle of the mountains or hiking the famous Bugak Mountain
and enjoying of an excellent workout, magnificent views of the city, the nature and the bright blue skies.! In addition, there
are many amusement parks around the city and nearby. Lotte World is a famous indoor and outdoor amusement park. The
city also has a huge zoo, planetarium, many aquariums etc. The facilities in the museums for kids are amazing. In
conclusion, there are endless activities to do for people from all ages all year around, letting them enjoy the four beautiful
seasons as well.
Seoul currently has about 10.4 million people and over 90 nationalities living in it. Although Seoul has more than 90
nationalities living in it, Seoul is a city where foreigners are rarely seen because of the huge population of Koreans in the
crowed city. Besides that, Seoul’s religion is 49% Christians, 47% Buddhists, 3%Confucians, and 1% others. Seoul is a
different and unique city because it doesn’t only have high technology, but you can be standing next to the most amazing
modern building and you turn around and you see a beautiful ancient palace filled with mysteries and great adventures just
waiting for you to explore. As you can see, all of this makes Seoul an interesting city and filled with adventures. That is why
you shouldn’t waste your time. Just come, be adventurous, and you will soon be filled with unforgettable memories!

Dublin is the haven of solace, a great place to kick back with a pint of Guinness in
one hand and your soon-to-be empty wallet in the other, and forget about your
responsibilities. It was established by the Norse in 841 AD. The post office of
Dublin, the graves of Irish rebel leaders and a memorial commemorating the Easter
revolution have become popular landmarks in Dublin. Dublin’s main (and most
popular) form of business is their popular Guinness brand of beer, famous the
world over for its heartiness and connections to the Irish. Do you think you know
everything about Dublin? Well, you’re WRONG! Come follow me on a journey to

Ireland used to be under control by the British. Dublin and the rest of Ireland protested, so the British
Government agreed to write an act signifying Ireland’s independence for Britain. However, WWI broke out and
the British Government forgot about it (or chose to forget, depending on who you ask.).
The Irish populace protested and formed a revolutionary party, establishing the local Post Office in Dublin as
the rebel base of operations. On the first day of Easter Week, the revolutionists traversed the streets of
Dublin, killing and wounding as many Brits as their ammunition supply would allow them. This became
known as Easter Rising.
However, when the British, the more technologically advanced, but less Guinness-swilling society, heard
about it, they sent plenty of Gatling guns, artillery cannons, and incendiary ammunition, for use by Brits.
Within the remaining six days of Easter Week, most of the rebels were killed, wounded, or captured, to be
executed later. The rebel leader from the post office issued a surrender note, not wanting any more of his
fellow Irishmen to perish in vain.
As a result, Ireland is still under control by the British today. The post office of Dublin, the graves of the rebel
leaders and a memorial commemorating the revolution have become popular landmarks in Dublin, and the
British have acquired a dislike of the Irish, and vice versa.

The Parthenon & The view
from the acropolis hill
There is a landmark in Athens, Greece,
called the Parthenon. The Parthenon has
replaced a building that was destroyed in
an attack. The Parthenon was beginning to
be built in 448 BC and it finished
construction in 438 BC by two architects
name Iktinos and Kallicrates.
The Parthenon is now a famous landmark to tourists and Greece because the amount of years
that it has survived. The landmark has a huge statue of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill
inside.
VIEW
FROM
THE
ACROPOLIS
HILL
These pictures above show how people have changed the landscape around and of
the view from the mighty Acropolis Hill! Before, in the year 1845, the sight from the
Acropolis Hill was very bare and didn’t have many trees and buildings. If I were there, I
would be bored just by looking at it! Anyway, it was less crammed and busy, since it was
around in the ages of BC. Around 2000, humans changed the landscape. They added
more construction, like houses and stores and planted more trees. People didn’t take
away the old buildings, but they intend to make the architecture more modern. The
humans did this because they wanted the sight to be more interesting and eye catching
to attract people, like tourists. Today, because of this change, the Acropolis of Athens is
the most well known Acropolis in Greece and has the Parthenon positioned on top of the
hill, 150 meters above the sea.
