Using of superlative adjective:

We use superlative adjectives to compare thing in a group with all other things in the group.

We use the before the superlative adjectives because we are referring to one specific person or thing.

Superlative adjectives are used to describe an object which is at the upper or lower limit of a quality (the
tallest the smallest,the fastest ,the highest).They are used in sentences where a subject is compared to a
group of objects.

Noun(subject) +verb + the +superlative adjective + noun (object).My house is the largest one in our
neighbours .This is the smallest box u have ever seen.

How to modify a superlative:

One of the +superlative +plural noun.Great Britain is one of the richest countries in the world.

“some of the”+superlative + plural noun .

New york ,londin and Tokyo are some of the most expensive cities in the world.

We can also modify a superlative with an ordinal number.

Hussain is the tallest person in the family “the” + ordinal number +superlative.

Muqaddam is the second tallest person in the family.

We can also replace “the” with a possessive .

Possessive+ superlative.

Jane is my best friend.

Physics is her hardest exam

Physics is janes hardest exam.

 1-For most one-syllable adjectives we add -est

 Tall tallest

Mercury is the smallest planet in the solar system.

2-For one syllable adjectives ending in “e”.

We add -st

3-Form :one syllable adjectives ending in a consonant .

We double the last consonant and add -est
