Meet the Psychologists

Agniete Pocyte
I was born in Lithuania. This seems a long way from
Edinburgh, but I was lucky enough to live in Chicago,
Arizona and Canada before starting my undergraduate
degree at the University of Edinburgh.

Moving around the world has made me appreciate the

similarities between people and this led me to first study
psychology at secondary school. Throughout my studies, I
was surprised by how many times my expectations were
completely shattered by psychological research.

This resource dips into three of my favourite areas of

psychology- social, biological and cognitive. I’ve spent four
years studying psychology in Edinburgh and believe it is
remarkable groundwork for understanding and gaining
insight into other disciplines. I am currently pursuing a
Masters Degree in Intelligence, Security, and Strategic
Studies.

Lorna Camus
I was born in France and was raised bilingual and binational. I
spent the better part of my education in an international high
school, which along with my own background, gave me an
invaluable insight into both similarities and differences across
cultures and people, and paved the way for my interest in social
psychology and its contribution to understanding societies and
their difficulties.

When I was in high school, I also started working with children in

a summer camp, which was an experience that fuelled my
interests in cognitive, developmental and applied psychology,
and provided the foundation for future work in schools and with
young people requiring additional support needs. This resource
not only touches on areas of psychology that I find fascinating, it
is also a tool for students to debate current societal topics while
exploring and understanding how psychology helps us
understand these and contributes to finding solutions. It also
allows them to see how their own cognitions can have an impact
on their way of seeing the world and other people; knowledge that I think is incredibly valuable to
young people.
