Capstone strand I have chosen is Make tools with plastic to protect water pollution and
realize the seriousness and protect marine life.
Proposed title for my project: The Future of Marine Life

What is your inquiry question that interests you for further research? It should be a question that
connects with a purpose, passion or personalized area of interest for you. This is a question that
you cannot just google an answer for. Please see examples from your Capstone booklet.

I really love food, especially sushi. Would our next generation be able to eat sushi in future?
Would leads to the current “Is the current water quality, okay? Whether the marine life had
increased or decreased?” I believe humanity is responsible for the environment on Earth.
Checking the current situation and realize the seriousness of marine life and finding the
solution would be my purpose which is beneficial and saving our community.

Rationale/context: Detail your reasons for choosing this inquiry question. Explain WHY you are
choosing to investigate this topic as a major area of focus. How does this area of inquiry connect
to your passion(s), purpose? Why is it of personal interest to you?

I was seriously aware of the problem of sea pollution, and I thought of a material that I could
make with plastic. Environmental pollution ruins biodiversity. It is a fact that we cannot live
without nature. I believe everything we use in our daily lives is linked to pollution in the sea
environment. Nearly 100 percent of the sea pollution problem comes from humans which
equals to that humanity take responsibility for marine life. The main purpose of my Capstone
project is to protect our next generation. It is a problem that I cannot solve by myself.
Everyone should know the problem and be serious to find a solution. I also deeply think about
to find a solution from what I like to do, and what I am good to do. I realize I like interior design
and fashion design. My goal is to make eco-friendly interior materials that can solve
environmental pollution problems.

Background: What background knowledge/connections/prior learning do you have in this

area of inquiry?

More than 300 million tons of plastic are produced each year for a variety of purposes. At least
8 million tons of plastic are dumped into our oceans each year, accounting for 80% of all
marine debris from water to deep-sea sediments. Plastic is cheap, light, strong, and can burn
well. Marine plastic is the ingestion, choking, and entanglement of hundreds of species of
marine life. Marine wildlife such as seabirds, whales, fish, and turtles are mistaken for food,

 and most of their ships starve to death because they are full of plastic debris. Using plastic
tools or materials is no harmful to our body, but if the plastic goes into our body there are
many effects. Direct toxicity from plastics comes from lead, cadmium, and mercury, which
have been found in many fish in the ocean. It is a routine. We use plastic, Fish eats plastic,
We eat the fish.

Career connections: What is your intended career area at this point in time? What
connections does this inquiry question have to your life, academic and/ or career goals?

The intended career area is interior design, but at the same moments, it is saving our planet
and career in the future. To start, my mother was a fashion designer in New York in the past,
but she gave up her job because of my new birth. I loved the painting and arts that she
impresses me. I have been interested in design and clothes since I was young, and when I go
to university later, I am willing to go to interior fashion and fashion design. Later, when I
become an interior designer and decorate a house for people to take on a unique and
personal orientation, they should also will be decorating a house with eco-friendly items, which
can be an eco-friendly influence not only for me but also for others.

This project is related to design. I will try to show suggestions to save marine life by using
interior design and furniture design to make a better society. I understand and I will continue
to develop my abilities. While preparing the capstone project I can analyze the evidence from
a different perspective. I usually think about other people's perspectives in every situation. I
am available to express my idea and I would try to convince the audience. It is important that
we look at it from a number of perspectives that others can see, which allows us to find
solutions that better find the root cause of the problem and take into account the needs and
feelings of everyone involved. Looking at it from a different perspective is my great strength
and it will provide a capstone project. Moreover, I will understand and continue to develop my
abilities and reduce weakness It is hard to tell simple about my passion and how would I help
society I need improvement. I need to tell and respond simply. I usually express long and then
lose the point because my word explanation gets boring. I think I need to take the time to
practice delivering directly to tell my ideas.

When I work on the Capstone project, realistically these are things I cannot do now. It is
difficult to implement because there is no feasibility. Therefore, the best way is to use an
electronic portfolio or create a YouTube channel. At first, I need a title that will appeal to
viewers or audiences. The title I thought was "No Sushi After 28 years" When there is such a
title, many sushi enthusiasts and people will be curious about the reason and want to see how
serious it is. The first screen will draw attention by showing the marine ecosystem. Then it will
explain how the current situation is going and show you how to find a solution. I will also show
the solution what I thought. Influence is very important because the subject I choose is a
problem I cannot solve on my own. It is possible only when many people see and realize it. Do
you know the butterfly effect? This refers to a phenomenon in which the results are completely
changed by a slight difference in initial values. Whether it's my presentation or my video, I
hope this fine distinction will preserve the marine ecosystem.

- Why I choose this idea : I believe humanity is responsible for the environment on
Earth. Checking the current situation and realize the seriousness of marine life and
finding the solution would be my purpose which is beneficial and saving our community
and I love sushi.
- How to solve, create: Grind the plastic by color. Make furniture for your own use after
separating by color. It can be considered unsanitary in that it uses plastic, but a paper
by a professional professor shows that it is harmless to the human body. Plastic is best
not to be thrown away and should not be used to do so. If you don't want to use it, you
don't have to make it and sell it. It's not easy, but it's not impossible at all.
- What I felt and finishing paragraph: The best to save marine life in our current situation
is not eating seafood and reducing disposable goods. I had a new question while
preparing the capstone “Would it be able to live without eating fish” The answer was
simple “yes” There are many ways to have nutrients from fish. Should I have to reduce

 eating fish? (Personal question) I would say, yes. I won’t be able to eat never, but I
hope our next generation can taste and watch creatures.

Resources/ Technology/Skills: Make an assessment of the resources, technology and

skills you will need to be able to complete this project. What is your plan to be able to
access/learn all of the resources necessary to achieve completion of this project? Detail
your plans.

I was thinking to do presentation, so I would defiantly need PowerPoint skill which I already
have and need to be persuasive to listeners. I should keep practicing in front of friends and be
use to use body languages. It is necessary to research to provide better information.

you need to help you complete your capstone project? How will your mentor(s) help you?
What is your plan to access the mentorship/community connections necessary for this
project?

I have been learning design for a year in South Korea and also had fashion design subjects in
R.E Mountain Secondary School. Which I am already knowledgeable about it. I am
passionate about design and my mother was a designer. She knows many types of material
and I would also like to ask our fashion design teacher.

Project limitations: What are some project limitations and potential obstacles that you foresee
that might affect progress with your Capstone Project?

My project is not available to show in realistic in presentation. Some of data could be different
than others and the results could be different from what I think.

Other considerations: List and detail any other related information/ considerations about
your project that you feel should be included in your project proposal.

In the Capstone project, I have been relating plastic and marine life. While I was researching, I
saw many other objects that make water pollution. Fishing net, gas oil, glass, etc. I was
considering if I should connect these objects.
