I'm glad to have the opportunity of making this presentation about a British singer-songwriter -

John Lennon, who was also a key member of the Beatles. I shall be speaking today about his
early life, forming the Beatles, Beatlemania, drug use and other aspects of his life.

To begin with, John Lennon was born on October 1940, in war-time in Liverpool. Because of his
family problems he went to live with his aunt and uncle who had no children of their own.

In his early teens he got his first guitar and would spend many hours playing.

It is necessary to emphasize that he was a natural troublemaker and had disruptive behavior.
Due to this, he was expelled from the College of Art.

With reference to the beginning of his musical career, in the late 1950s, John formed a rock
group called the “Quarry Men Skiffle Band”. And In 1957, he formed a successful musical
partnership with Paul McCartney. Lennon was considered the leader of the Beatles due to his
superior age and musical abilities.

In 1963, the group’s profile took off with hit singles, such as “Please Please Me” and “She Loves
You.” The Beatles which also had Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr in its
line-up became the first British band to break out big in the United States . The
popularity and enthusiasm for the Beatles were such that it led to the term “Beatlemania” being
used. Lennon and the Beatles began a hectic schedule of recording, live performances and
media appearances.

Although he was a rebel, Lennon agreed to the suggestion of manager Brian to dress stylishly
and have a similar haircut. The smart-suited Beatles were part of their cultivated image.

As a matter of fact, during the 1960s, John Lennon began to use drags frequently. The death of
their manager also hit Lennon and the Beatles hard.

It's need to say that In 1967, John Lennon and the Beatles became more interested in
meditation and Eastern religions that also had influences into their music.

Now let’s concern a period of his solo Career and talk about his personal life.

When the group split up in 1970, Lennon embarked on a solo career that produced the albums
John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine. After his marriage to Yoko Ono in 1969, he
changed his name to John Ono Lennon.

Before Yoko Ono, John Lennon married Cynthia Powell in 1963, though the marriage was kept
secret. They had one son, Julian.

In 1975, he retreated from the music world, preferring to spend time looking after his new son,
Sean.

Fortunately, In October of 1980, Lennon decided to make a return to music recording. But, just
two months later he was shot by an obsessed fan in Dakota, New York.

Coming to the conclusion, by 2012, John Lennon has sold 14 million solo albums, while the
Beatles have become the best-selling group of all time. Lennon's assassination had, and
continues to have, a profound impact on pop culture.

As for me, I loved John’s contribution to the Beatles and his solo work even though there were
aspects of his personality that are not admirable.
Thank you for your attention.
