1. Why did you choose that study?

We, choose this study because as tourism students, we want to know the problems like the
factors that will affect the sustainability of tourism industry here in General Santos City. It is
necessary to address such problem since sustainable tourism has played an essential role in
discovering strategies to achieve beneficial outcomes, as have established regulatory and
development control techniques.

2. What are the objectives of your study?

1. To identify the factors affecting the tourism industry of General Santos City;

2. To determine the level of sustainability of tourism industry in General Santos City; and

3. To show the relationship between the factors in terms of; economics, environment and
society and the sustainability of the tourism industry in General Santos City.

3. What is the purpose of this study?

The main purpose of this study is to address the prevailing problem about the factors that
affects the sustainability of tourism industry.

To the Business Owners - this study will be beneficial to the owners of various tourist
destinations in General Santos because it will provide them with the ideas about how to improve
their facilities and infrastructures. This will give them an idea of the potential consequences of
making sustainable tourism.

First, we’ll be conducting with the questionnaire and then tabulate the data by determining
the weighted mean or average of each question that would satisfy the two variables.

The Venn Diagram Model of Sustainability, sustainability is typically defined as having three
unique dimensions: the environment, society, and economic. A Venn diagram made of three
overlapping circles, each representing a distinct dimension, can graphically express the link between
these elements (O'Riordan 1998).

Diamond Sustainable Tourism Development Model suggests that providing objective

criteria to assist organizations in making the required decisions about managing the number of
tourists to a tourism destination or attraction in order to ensure adequate growth of the tourism
operation without compromising the future of the tourism product itself (Adillón, 2019). The model
comprises the relevant elements that need to be taken into consideration for the sustainable
development of tourism, as well as the relationships among them.

returns false or rejected, it means that there is a relationship in the measured phenomenon or the
variables.

The questionnaire was from an adopted study entitled “Analyzing Factors Affecting Tourism
Sustainable Development Towards Vietnam in the New Era” Tuan and Rajagopal (2019).

15. Why would you use descriptive-correlational type of research design?

This study will use a descriptive-correlational research design since this will aim to define the
relationship among variables without attempting to create a causal link. By which, it will primarily
identify the factors such as economic, environmental, and societal affecting the sustainability of
tourism industry in General Santos City. After describing the two variables above, the two variables
would be correlated to see whether one affects the other or dependent variable. Furthermore, the
design will aid in the analysis of the variables' direct relationship (Tankersley, 2015).
