1. The list below shows the ages of the first 20 customers at a new computer game store.

a) Decide what class intervals to use, and then create a frequency table for the ages. (4

points: 2 points for intervals, 2 points for frequencies)

So I don’t know how to do a histogram on desmos so yeah but I would have the heights at
the frequencies of the above question. I don’t know what else I can do or say for this
question.

2. The list below shows the number of computer games a store sold each day for the first 11

days it was open.

a) Find the five-number summary for the data. Show your work. (5 points: 1 point for each

number) Minimum = 27, Q1 = 29, Median = 36, Q3 = 43, Maximum = 79

3. Scientists measured how many days had rain each month for three different cities. For

example, in Miami, the first month had 6 days of rain, the next month had 5 days of rain, and so

on. These boxplots show the results:

Miami: A little spread out, especially on the right side of the median
Seattle: A little spread out, especially on the left side of the median

4. Researchers weighed a sample of river otters and a sample of sea otters. These dot plots

show the results (rounded to the nearest pound).


a) Identify the shape of each dot plot. (2 points: 1 point for each dot plot) River otters have a

symmetrical shape, like a pyramid, while the sea otters have a very spread out and

inconsistent shape that’s a little larger towards the right side of the dot plot.

b) Which dot plot has a larger center? What does this mean in terms of the otters? (2 points:

1 point for each question) Sea otters have a larger center, which means that they typically

weigh more than river otters.

c) Identify any outliers. What do you think the outliers represent? (2 points: 1 point for

identifying, 1 for explanation) Sea otters have 3 outliers, 8, 10, and 12. They represent sea

otters that weight 8, 10, and 12 lbs, probably the children, while the rest of the otters weigh

much more
d) Which dot plot has a larger spread?(1 point) Sea otters

e) How do the outliers affect the spread of the dot plot? (1 point) The outliers make the

spread larger

points) Yes, the older you are, the more you want to go to the water slides. There were more

roller skating votes in 6th grade, an equal amount of roller skating votes in 7th grade, and

less votes for roller skating in 8th grade


d) If this trend continued, would you expect 9th graders to prefer the water slides or roller

skating? Explain your answer. (2 points) Water slides because the water slide percentages

keep going up with the grade level
