1. Listening is the ability to accurately receive and interpret messages in the communication
process.
2. They are not listening or making eye contact to you and constantly changing the topic.
3. Form a tightly focused message in your mind before you start to speak.
4. Remain calm and talk in a gentle, matter-of-fact way. Speak louder, if necessary, but do not
shout.
5. Speak slowly and clearly without yelling. Raising your voice too much can do more harm than
good when it comes to understanding speech. Speaking in a slow and clear manner will make it
much easier to keep up.

1. Hearing refers to one's ability to perceive sounds, by receiving vibrations through ears. On the
other hand, listening is something done consciously, that involve the analysis and understanding
of the sounds you hear.
2. When you understand the emotion and intentions behind the information. Being able to clearly
convey a message, you need to also listen in a way that gains the full meaning of what’s being
said and makes the other person feel heard and understood.
3. Effective communication leans heavily on listening skills, which reinforces two-way
understanding between two or more people.
