Chart for Small Flowers Lace Headband
The following tutorial is from a different headband pattern of mine, so the lacework is different, but
the instructions for attaching the elastic are the same.

ELASTIC CLOSURE

Cut about a 1 inch piece of elastic from a wrapped pony-tail holder or elastic headband.

Thread a sharp needle with the tail of thread on one end of the headband. Make a couple of
running stitches about ¼ inch from the end and as close to the center of the elastic as you can.
Doesn’t have to be perfect. You’ll be making a lot more stitches!

Going up and around, begin to wrap the yarn around the elastic, “catching” the edges of the fabric
coating of the elastic as you go down the sides. Be sure to catch the thread through the edges of
the lace-work, too. It won’t look pretty, yet, but this will all be covered eventually.

Do these kind of catching/wrapping stitches along that whole ¼ inch of the elastic. Give a few
tugs to make sure it’s secure, and when it feels good and set, continue wrapping the thread around
without catching the fabric to hide the elastic as much as you want. When you’re finished, just
work the needle underneath the stitches and draw the yarn through. Cut close to the end near the
work.

Making sure to work the not-so-pretty wrapped side of the elastic on the same side of the lace-
work, sew on the other end of the elastic, just like the first. The finished piece should look
something like this from the right-side, or even better if you work neater than I do ;) --
