Embracing the continuing vision of securing resources for rural communities, ArchiNEXT 2021

takes on a relevant structure benefiting the masses especially in trying times, LINGAP: General
Hospital and Extended Emergency Facility.

The COVID-19 pandemic is challenging numerous countries including ours. As the Philippines
is yet to achieve abundance in infrastructure, the rural communities continue to strive for basic
necessities. ArchiNEXT sees the need to contribute in the provision of accessible, affordable and
available facilities for all Filipinos, especially the poor and disadvantaged.

This year, we are looking for compassionate buildings that encapsulate a helping hand for health
concerns of people from all walks of life. LINGAP will be a healthcare structure that extends
itself for further emergency purposes. The primary objective of this project is to reduce the lack
of hospital care delivery services for provinces as well as to increase the health safety of its
communities by serving as an emergency space, an evacuation area, or isolation facility when
calamities or a pandemic strikes

ArchiNEXT will use the technical guidelines and licensing standards of the Department of
Health (DOH) to ensure accuracy of facility requirements but here are some general design
parameters:

For General Hospital:

1. The General Hospital is classified as Level 2, with 100-150 bed occupancies.
2. The floor to height of the building is 4 meters minimum. The floor to ceiling
height is 3 meters minimum.
3. Minimum space requirements must comply with DOH licensing requirements for
a Level 2 Hospital. (Specialization is not necessary since the project is only a
level 2 hospital).
Check our Downloads page or visit DOH’s
website: http://www.doh.gov.ph/sites/default/files/publications/planning_and_design_hospitals_
other_facilities.pdf
1. The extended emergency facility must be in close proximity to the hospital.
2. The Capacity must be 40 beds. The floor to floor height of the building is 4
meters minimum.
3. The facility must have a wash area and male and female toilets.
4. It must be properly and adequately ventilated for infection control, prioritizing
natural ventilation.
5. The facility must have a triage area, waiting area and nurse station, all separate
from the main hospital.
6. It must be collapsible and made out of local, lightweight, eco-friendly and cost
efficient materials.
The land area to accommodate both structures will have a minimum of 1.2 hectares of buildable
area.
