I. COURSE INFORMATION
1. General information
Course Title: Functional Analysis
Code: TOAN4472
Semester Credits: 2
Prerequisites: Metric space, Topological space, Lebesgue Measure and Integral .
Required text and course materials: none
2. Course Objectives: Students enrolled this course are expected to acquire the basic
knowledge on the normed linear spaces, continuous linear operators, Fundamental
principles of functional analysis, Lp spaces.
3. Skill: Convergence of a sequence in normed spaces, topological properties of a set; the
continuity of a linear operator, evaluation of normed of a linear operator; application of
fundamental principles of functional analysis to some specific problems.
4. Course Description:
Notions on normed spaces, Banach spaces.
Series in normed space
Linear continuous mapping
The space L(X,Y); normed subspaces and quotient spaces.
Three fundamental principles of functional analysis, conjugate spaces, conjugate
operator
Lp –spaces.

III. COURSE POLICIES AND METHOD OF EVALUATION


1. Course policies: Application of the Academic Regulation issued under the
Decision 43/2007/QĐ-BGDĐT, dated August 15, 2007 by the Minister of
Ministry of Education and Training
- Attendance and discussion in the class: 20 %
- Midterm test or assignment: 20%
- Final test or year-research work: 60%
2. Method and format of assessment, evaluation of learning outcomes
2.1 Permanent assessment;
2.2 Periodic assessment, including:
- Attendance, preparation of lesson and discussion
- Self-studying (completion of class assignments on individual/week; group
exercises/month; individual test/semester);
- Group activity;
- One period tests
- Final test;
- Other tests
