Maverick Kat Kuoy - Final The Alchemist Socratic Seminar Reflection
Maverick Kat Kuoy - Final The Alchemist Socratic Seminar Reflection
A. Pose questions that elicit elaboration and respond to others’ questions and
comments with relevant observations and ideas that bring the discussion back on topic
as needed.
Either within the seminar or during your partner breakout room, what questions did you
ask that elicited elaboration? OR, what questions did you answer that offered relevant
observations and ideas that propelled the discussion/ kept other’s on task?
During the breakout room, I asked my group a question from one of the socratic seminar
questions. I asked, what the central themes were and began a discussion from that.
During today’s discussion did someone say something that offered you a fresh
perspective or modified a previous view that you had of the text or about life?
When looking and listening to what everyone said, I gained a new perspective of how
other people viewed the book and showed me different ways to interpret books. It
showed me life lessons to pursue your dreams and that fear is a big thing in life.
C. Trace a peer’s line of thought and support the development of their critical thinking
and expression.
What contributions stood out to you in the breakout rooms or in the larger discussion?
When people were talking about themes and how you should always pursue your dreams
and listen and follow your heart.
