Introduction
A. Non-Resident Pakistanis and resident Pakistanis with wealth declared abroad can open
a Roshan Digital account with Standard Chartered.
Q7. What are the underlying modes of Saadiq Roshan Digital accounts (current/saving)?
Saadiq Roshan Digital Current Account (non-profit bearing) is based on the Islamic mode
of Qard and Saadiq Roshan Digital Savings Account (profit bearing account) is based on
the Islamic mode of Mudaraba, wherein the customer’s deposit funds are invested in
Shariah compliant avenues. The profit is shared as per the pre-agreed ratio between the
Bank and the customer.
Q10. Are there any cross-border limitation for opening of Roshan Digital Account
through Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan Limited?
A. Your account opening application shall be processed based on the limitations around of
cross border activities that can be undertaken for the residents of the country where you
currently reside in. We may not be able to offer Roshan Digital Account or investing in
Naya Pakistan Certificates for residents of some countries.
Saving Account
Q11. What shall be the profit pay out frequency on savings account?
A. Payout frequency shall be on monthly basis.
Q13. What shall be the profit rate on Saadiq savings account (Islamic Accounts)?
A. For Saadiq PKR accounts, tier-based profit rates shall be applicable as per the profit-
sharing ratios.
Joint Account
Q14. Is the account operation, singly or jointly?
A. The account can be operated either singly or jointly
Q16. Can I open a joint account with a non-resident Pakistani residing in another country?
A. The account can be opened with a non-resident Pakistani residing in another country.
Q18. What will happen in case of death of the primary joint account holder?
A. In case the secondary account holder is a non-resident he can continue operating the
account.
B. In case the secondary account holder is a resident, the account will have to be closed in
case of death of the primary joint holder and a new non-RDA account can be opened for
the secondary account holder.
C. In case the secondary account holder is a minor, the account will be marked deceased
until guardianship certificate is provided to add another primary account holder or until the
secondary account holder who is a minor comes of age.

Q19. What documents are required to open a Roshan Digital account?
A. 1. Valid Identity Document (CNIC/ SNIC/ NICOP/POC, POR etc)
2. Valid Passport
3. Proof of NRP status (POC/ Visa, entry/ exit stamps, etc)
4. Proof of Profession & Source of Income/ Funds
5. Signature as per Identity Document
6. Live photo
7. Valid Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Membership Card (if applicable)
Q24. Are there any other sources of funds/income acceptable for salaried/ non-salaried/
self-employed/ unemployed persons?
• Inheritance
• Agriculture Income
• Investment in securities, bonds, shares, etc.
• Investment in property
• Interest income
Transactions
Q25. What transactions are allowed on my Roshan Digital account?
A. Credit Transactions:
• Remittances received from abroad through banking channel
• The account can only be funded through a bank account belonging to the account
holder available on bank records.
• Proceeds of Government of Pakistan securities (as allowed by State Bank of
Pakistan), term deposits, and other Wealth products and profit / interest on these
investments.
• Refund of amounts debited incorrectly or over-charged.
Debit Transactions:
• Remittances and payments outside Pakistan to the funding account
• Investment in Government of Pakistan securities (as allowed by the State Bank of
Pakistan), term deposits, and other Wealth products.
• All inland (within Pakistan) payments and funds transfer within Pakistan only –
These can be done via PKR account only
• Debits in lieu of applicable government taxes / duties etc, bank charges and
reversal of any incorrect / wrong credit entry.
Q28. Can my Roshan Digital Account be credited with my salary from my employer?
Account can only be fed by foreign remittances originating from the account holder
themself through formal channels i.e., banks or money transfer companies.
Q29. Can business accounts (local and international) transfer money into our RDA
account?
A. Roshan Digital Account is only credited via remittances (internationally) initiated by the
account holder himself/herself.
Q30. I have faced issues in remitting funds to Standard Chartered Roshan Digital
Account, how can I have a seamless process for remitting funds?
A. In order to execute your remittance transactions processed seamlessly, the following is
recommended:
o Remittance from abroad should be sent directly through SWIFT channel to SCB
Pakistan as a first priority option.
o In case of remitting bank is using any local correspondent arrangement, client is
requested to instruct their bank clearly, to use RTGS channel for funds transfer by
local correspondent to SCBPL.
Q31. What will be charges when I send remittance to my Roshan Digital Account?
There are no Inward Telegraphic Transfer charges by Standard Chartered Bank.
However, the corresponding banks charge a fee when routing funds to Standard
Chartered Bank.
Q32. What is exchange rate determined on the transactions sent to and from Roshan
Digital Accounts?
A. The exchange rate is quoted as a two-way price like all other banks. Furthermore,
especially for Roshan Digital Account clients, we will give a special reduced rate to clients
(with minimum spread)
Q33. How can I transfer funds from my FCY account to my PKR account or vice versa?
A. You can transfer funds between your FCY and PKR RDA Accounts in Standard Chartered
Bank Private Limited by emailing your relevant Relationship Manager via your registered
email address. The Relationship Manager will share the prevalent exchange rate for
conversion of your funds, and you will have to confirm the same. Post confirmation of rate,
the branch will carry out the funds transfer for you. However, the same will soon be offered
via our iBanking.
Q36. How do I Repatriate/ Outward Remit my funds abroad from Roshan Digital Account?
A. Funds can be remitted outside Pakistan to the account holder themselves by sharing
signed Outward Telegraphic Transfer form to your branch personnel via your registered

Q37. What amount can I Repatriate/ Outward remit abroad from my Roshan Digital
Account?
A. Remittance and payments outside Pakistan can be to the extent of balance available in
the account, without any prior approvals from the Bank or State Bank of Pakistan.
Q38. What will be charges when I send remittance from my Roshan Digital Account?
A. There are no charges for outward remittance for RDA customers.
Q44. I received my welcome letter, how will get access to my Roshan Digital Account?
A. In case of an FCY account or PKR account where debit card is not opted for, the Ibanking
ID will be sent on your email and the password would be shared with you via PIN mailer
delivered to your residential mailing address. However, in case of a PKR account where
debit card was opted, the debit card would be delivered to you on your residential mailing
address, and you can register for your Ibanking via the debit card.
Q45. How can I register for Standard Chartered Online banking via my Debit Card?
A. Please find below the steps to register for Standard Chartered Online Banking via your
Debit Card:
Step 1: Visit sc.com/pk and click on Online Banking
Step 2: On the Online Banking page, click on Instant registration
Step 3: Agree to our Online Banking terms and conditions and click Accept
Step 4: Fill in your Debit Card number and expiry date (printed on the front of your debit
card)
Step 5: Fill in 3-digit CVV number (printed on the back of your card)
Step 6: Fill in your 4-digit ATM PIN and click Next
Step 7: Verify your mobile number through a One-Time-Password (OTP)
Step 8: Create your Username and Password for SC Online Banking
Step 9: Log into SC Online Banking!
Q46. How can I register for Standard Chartered Online banking if I do not have a debit
card?
A. In case you do not have a debit card you will receive your temporary iBanking ID and
Password on email and on your mailing address respectively. You can login with this ID
and reset your password by visiting sc.com/pk and clicking on Online Banking.
Naya Pakistan Certificate (Conventional/Islamic)
Q47. Are there any cross-border limitation for investing in Naya Pakistan Certificates/
Islamic Naya Pakistan Certificates through Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan Limited?
A. Yes. There are limitations around cross border activities that can be undertaken for the
residents of specific countries. We may not be able to offer investing in Naya Pakistan
Certificates for residents of some countries. The same check has been built in in the form
to facilitate you in identifying if you are eligible to apply for Roshan Digital Account.
Q50. How do I apply for Naya Pakistan Certificate/ Islamic Naya Pakistan Certificates?
A. You can visit our SC Pakistan website on www.sc.com/pk, visit the invest webpage, click
on “more info” button in the Naya Pakistan Certificate section, and fill out the digital
investment form.
Q51. What are the tenors available for investing in Naya Pakistan Certificates/ Islamic Naya
Pakistan Certificates?
A. The tenors available are 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, 36 months and 60 months.
Q52. What types of Naya Pakistan Certificates are available/ Islamic Naya Pakistan
Certificates?
A. Both Conventional and Islamic Naya Pakistan Certificates are available.
Q54. What are the profit rates for Islamic Naya Pakistan Certificates?
A. The rates below are indicative and actual returns are dependent on performance of USD and
PKR pools.

Q55. Can we invest jointly in Naya Pakistan Certificate/ Islamic Naya Pakistan
Certificates?
A. The investment in Naya Pakistan Certificate can be done jointly via a joint account Roshan
Digital Account.
Q56. Can resident Pakistanis invest in Naya Pakistan Certificates/ Islamic Naya Pakistan
Certificates?
A. Resident Pakistanis who have declared assets abroad with FBR can invest in USD-
denominated NPCs/INPCs after opening their Roshan Digital Account for residents. (Click

Q57. How will I know that my Naya Pakistan Certificate/ Islamic Naya Pakistan Certificate
investment has been made?
A. Naya Pakistan Certificate are issued digitally. A confirmation email on the issuance of the
certificate is sent on your registered email address.
Q58. Is early encashment allowed on NPCs/INPCs?
A. Early encashment is allowed, however, the rules for NPC/INPC differ.
NPC: Before a certain holding period (3-months), no interest/profit will be available to the
investor at the time of early encashment. After 3-months holding period, profit/interest will be
paid subject to rules laid down by the regulator.
INPC: Minimum holding period is one month. If encashment is done after 1-month and before
3-months, there will be a discount factor applied to the profit accruing to the investor. After 3-
months holding period, profit will be paid subject to rules laid down by the regulator.
Other Investments
Q61. Can I invest in real estate and equities through this account?
A. You cannot currently invest in real estate and equities through this account.
Credit Card
Q63. I am a Roshan Digital Account holder; can I apply for a credit card?
Yes, Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan Limited offers Credit Cards (Conventional Lien
Cards) to its Roshan Digital Accountholders. Standard Chartered Bank Saadiq Credit
Cards are available for our Islamic Roshan Digital Account holders (based on lien
marking).
Q64. How can I apply for a credit card?
A. You can visit the Roshan Digital Account webpage on our website www.sc.com/pk and
click on the apply now button to fill the digital form.
Taxes
Q67. Are there any FBR implications on remitting funds into the country and repatriating
it?
A. There are currently no FBR implications on remitting and repatriating funds.
Q68. What is tax rate applicable on Naya Pakistan Certificate/ Islamic Naya Pakistan
Certificate?
A. The tax rate applicable on profit of investment in Naya Pakistan Certificate is flat 10% for
both filers and non-filers.
Q69. While filling the form I came across a question that required me to give my Tax
Identification Number, I do not have my Tax identification Number, what do I do?
A. If you do not have a Tax Identification Number, please select Reason B from the drop
down in the form and choose the relevant rationale for not providing the Tax Identification
Number for the same.
Miscellaneous
Q70. Is compulsory deduction of Zakat, under Zakat & Ushr Ordinance 1980, applicable
on RDA?
A. No, in terms of Section 3(1)(a)(b) of the Zakat and Ushr Ordinance, 1980, read with Rule
24-A of the Zakat Collection & Refund Rules, 1981, compulsory deduction of Zakat is not
applicable on RDA (both FCVA and NRVA).
Q71. How can I have my static data changed?
A. Static data change request can be placed via call-centre or by visiting a branch in case
you are visiting Pakistan.
