HFO – MGO operation.

The numbers of the valves in the description corresponds to PI Diagram 92X02:05641 and 92X02:056740

Change over from HFO to MGO from local panel: (G115 remain in HFO pos.)
The procedure can be carried out in the following Burner mode: Stopped or Shutdown

1. Request key on the local panel you are operating.

2. Go to CMN CTR, enter by the
3. Find the F.O.RING LINE, use the , and enter by the
4. Press SET and change value to MGO
a. The HFO preheater is automatic closed, and the HFO temp. have to fall below 100 °C.
b. The MGO pump starts automatically.
c. The circulating flow is automatic raised to the FLUSH FLOW 50% on both Boilers.
d. The valve G111 changes the return oil to HFO settling tank.
(If not manual forced to returning to the mix tube)
e. When the HFO temperature is below 100°C, the valves F250 on the Burners changes
position and the flushing of the pipes on the Burners with MGO starts, the HFO return line
is still open.
f. The Flush time is 120 sec., then the MGO pump stops, and the valves F253 changes
position, the oil returns to the MGO return line.
g. The FLUSHING is now finished and the Burners are ready for MGO operation.
h. During the MGO operation the HFO system is in operation recirculation the HFO at a lower
pressure (10 bar) via the valves F256. There is no preheating of the HFO, check the
temperature.
When the MGO system was tested, the HFO temperature was after 6 hours dropped to 70
°C, the electrical energy delivered to the HFO pump is transferred to heat. If the temperature
becomes too low you have to open manually for the steam to the preheater, but only for a
short time.
i. Before the first start of the Burners you must start the MGO pump manually, afterwards the
pump will start and stop automatic. The MGO pump stops if both Burners are stopped and
start again when the Burner starts.
5. During operation with 1 Boiler on low load the highest MGO temperature is expected.

a. The MGO stops if running.
b. The valves F250 and F253 changes to HFO position.
c. The oil flow is raised to FLUSH FLOW 50%, and the timers are running for 6 min.
d. The HFO preheater starts to raise the temperature to the normal set point 125 °C.
e. When the temperature is close to the set point 115°C, the Burner is ready for HFO
operation.
f. The valve G111 changes the return to the mix tube.

1. Change the position of the valve G115, to MGO position

2. The HFO pumps will stop and the valves F250 and F253 will change to HFO position. The valve
G111 will change to HFO settling tank.
3. Waiting for HFO temperature to drop below 100°C
4. The HFO pump starts when the temperature is below 100°C and the Flushing timer starts; the
flushing time is 5 minutes.
5. HFO pump stops.
6. MGO pump starts and valve F250 changes to MGO position.
7. Flushing of the pipes on the Burner starts, flushing time 2 minutes.
8. The MGO pump stops and valve F253 changes to MGO position.

There is now MGO in the HFO ring line, and the system can be taken out of operation for a longer time
without heating the line.
