CHANGE OVER PROCEDURE OF AUX BOILERS - SUEZMAXES

A. CHANGE OVER FROM HFO TO MGO

1. Open MGO SERV tank valve FM10 ( suction of MGO pump )

2. Open return valve FM26 ( from boiler to the MGO tank)

3. Open valves before and after the MGO flow meter (FB 53 & FB 52) and confirm that
the bypass valve (FB51) is close.

4. Open/confirm that the return valve of MGO to the tank (FB55) is open.

5. Shut off the manual valves of boiler heater before the controller.

6. Open the inlet valve of MGO FB57 to the burner

7. Return at ECC and from the boiler screen, select a GO pump and set this pump in
“AUTO” mode either by clicking on the pump or by having access to the Pump menu.

8. Click on the “Oil Operation” tag and select MGO at the emerged menu.

9. Upon pressing the “MGO” option, “Flushing” procedure is started. During this
procedure, the pressure of fuel oil is around five bars as it is set on the Boiler parameter
menu, the fuel oil flow (%) is around 40%. The temp of fuel oil is to fall to 95 0C (step ii)
and after this reduction being taken place, time for change automatically the three way
valves located adjacent to burner is requited (step iii)

10. After the completion of flushing procedure, we start the boiler by pressing on the
“Operation” tag and pushing “Manual Start”.

11. During the operation in MGO mode, the pressure of fuel oil remains to five bars and the
temperature finally goes below <95 0C. The fuel oil pump will never stop recirculating
the oil.
12. When the aux boiler has been set in “Auto” mode, the MGO pump will be stopped every
time boiler is also stopped due to high pressure setting. Said pump will be automatically
started upon aux boiler’s ignition.

B. CHANGE OVER FROM MGO TO HFO

1. Open the manual valves of aux boilers’ heater.

2. Click on the “Oil Operation” tag and select HFO/DO at the emerged menu

3. Upon pressing the “HFO/DO” option, “Flushing” procedure is started. During this procedure,
the pressure of fuel oil is around five bars as it is set on the Boiler parameter menu, the fuel
oil flow (%) is around 40%. The temp of fuel oil is awaiting to reach at least the temp of 80
0
C and after this value is achieved, time for change automatically the three way valves
located adjacent to burner is requited.

5. During the operation of aux boilers in HFO mode, the temperature of fuel oil is around 120
0
C and the respective pressure reaches the value of 18 bars. The fuel oil pump is always in
operation even if the boiler stops due to high pressure setting recirculating the fuel oil.

C. CHANGE OVER FROM HFO TO DO

1. Shut off the MGO SERV tank valve FM10 ( see step A.1)
2. Shut off the return valve FM26 ( see step A.2)
3. Shut off the valves before and after the MGO flow meter (FB 53 & FB 52) and confirm that
the bypass valve FB 51 ( see step A.3)
4. Shut off the return valve of MGO to the tank FB55 ( see step A.4)
5. Shut off the manual valves of boiler heater before the controller. ( see step A.5)
6. Shut off the inlet valve of MGO FB57 to the burner ( see step A.6)
7. Open the return valve FB10 ( suction valve of MDO pump)

8. Confirm that the return valve to MDO Serv tank is close. On contrary the return valve of
HFO tank is still open. After two or three hours of operation in DO mode, HFO return valve
must be closed and MDO return valve to tank FB42 must be opened

9. Open MDO valve (suction of MDO pump) FB01 located inside purifier room.

10. Turn the three-way valve ( HFO to DO ) manually to DO position.

11. Upon turning the three-way valve located inside purifier room, “Flushing” procedure is
started.
12. After the completion of flushing procedure, we start the boiler by pressing on the

13. Pump will start automatically upon aux boilers’ ignition and said pump will be stopped every
time boiler is stopped due to high pressure setting.

D. CHANGE OVER FROM DO TO HFO

1. Shut off the MDO valve (suction of MDO pump) FB01 located inside purifier room
( CAUTION: Do not close FB10 valve in order to ‘isolate” MDO tank because in this case
the supply to the composite boiler will be stopped also ).
2. Turn the three-way valve ( HFO to DO ) manually to HFO position.

14. Upon turning the three-way valve located inside purifier room, “Flushing” procedure is
started.
3. At the same time, fuel oil pump is automatically started. During the operation in HFO mode,
the fuel oil pump is never stopped even of the aux boilers are stopped due to high pressure
setting.
