Volleyball Reflective Essay

It is quite curious that the inventors of two of the most popular sports in history met on
the same campus. It shows that inspiration can be derived from anywhere and it could
lead to unexpected creations. Morgan wanted to create a game that was just as fun as
the creation of Naismith and he went to work about it. He took his own ideas and
created a hybrid of tennis and handball that was much more accessible to others and
not as rough as basketball was. Although sport soon caught the attention of many, the
name seemed to falter until a bystander commented about the game and lo and behold
the name volleyball was born.

The best aspect about it all was that Morgan didn’t seem to claim that all the ideas were
his. He keeps referring back to Naismith’s game and going back to see what made his
sport fun and how he can change things up in the one he himself created. They never
really worked with one another directly, but the inspiration was enough to get the game
to the heights it has achieved today. They are equally successful in their respective
leagues and tournaments, garnering views from fans all over the world. Their creations
have created legends and inspired a culture that lead to the creation of and inspiration
for shows such as Kuroko no Basket and Haikyuu; both of which are extremely
successful shows all inspired and derived from the two games.
