Overview of school

• UBC is a world leading centre of

teaching , learning, and research. They
are ranked in the top 20 worldwide.
They state “UBC transforms personal
initiative into innovation, and new ideas
into impact. UBC supports inspired
students, staff and faculty on their
journey of discovery, and challenges
them to realize their greatest
potential.” The Okanagan campus has
around 10,700 students that are
enrolled, so there are so many
opportunities to meet new people.
 • UBCO is a good fit for me because it is in
British Columbia. It about a 4-hour drive
away, which means that I could visit home if
I wanted to more conveniently than if I
moved out of province. It is the only
Why is this a university in British Columbia that offers
zoology, and it is only offered at the
good fit for Okanagan campus, so if I want to stay in B.C.,
it is my only option. The Okanagan campus
me has smaller class sizes compared to the
Vancouver campus. This is because they
have roughly 10,000 students compared to
the Vancouver campus, that has roughly
56,000 students. For these reasons, I think
UBCO is a good fit for me.
Zoology

• I will be taking zoology at the Okanogan campus.

It is a four year accredited program which leads
to a bachelor’s of science. In this program you
focus on studying the behaviors, physiology,
anatomy, of the animal kingdom. Through this
program I will also gain practical experience and
skills in laboratory and fieldwork, computers and
communication.
 • This program is a good fit for me because I
have always loved science and found it
very interesting. In school I do well in
biology and find it more interesting than

and physiology and anatomy 12, I found

• Principles of chemistry l

• Differential calculus with applications to
physical sciences and engineering
• Biology for science majors ll
• Introductory physics for the Life Sciences l
• An English class
• A second chemistry class
• Three additional elective courses (ex. Two
social studies courses and an art course)
 • The science courses are required to take my
first year, so that in my second year we can
build from what we learnt the previous year.
Why I chose I would like to take socials classes as my
electives because it is something that
those interests me a lot and would be a good
courses change of pace from my science courses. My
last elective I would love to take an art class
because I find it is a great way to express
yourself without judgment of others.

• The cost of tuition is $6,255

• $1,900 is the estimated cost of books
• The cost of housing is $5,100 to $7,000
• The cost of a meal plan ranges from $3,675.04 to
$6,495.99

 • I have a part-time job and work
roughly 20 hours a week. I put half
my paycheck into a savings account,
so I have some money saved. By the
end of the year, I should have
$7,296 saved.
Payment Plan • I am planning to apply for
scholarships to help cover the cost

student loans because university is
very expensive, and I am paying it
for it by myself.
