 The Cavite Mutiny changed the Philippine Society by providing the necessary start of
Filipino Nationalism that would eventually lead to the Philippine Revolution of 1896.

 In the Cavite Mutiny, there is also an event acronymed “GOMBURZA”, denoting the
surnames of the priests Mariano Gómez, José Apolonio Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora,
three Filipino priests who were executed on 17 February 1872 at Bagumbayan in
Manila, Philippines by Spanish colonial authorities on charges of subversion arising
from the 1872 Cavite mutiny. Their execution left a profound effect on many Filipinos;
José Rizal the national hero being one of them, enraged by these event causing an
astounding change in the Philippine society. Jose Rizal would dedicate his novel El
filibusterismo to their memory and to enlighten the filipino people about the unfair
treatment of the Spaniards.

#3 Positive/Negative Changes

Positive

 One of the positive changes in the event of Cavite Mutiny is the creation of the
novels El filibusterismo and Noli Me Tángere by Jose Rizal.

 The harsh reaction of the Spanish authorities served ultimately to promote the
nationalist cause.

 Jose Rizal was planning on becoming a catholic priest but because of the event in
cavite mutiny which included the killings of the three priests acronymed
GOMBURZA, Jose Rizal changed his mind and created the El filibusterismo. If the
event never took place, Jose Rizal (National Hero) would’ve been a priest.

 A lot of filipino people got inspired by Jose Rizal and wanted to join the Philippine
Revolution. Because of Jose Rizal’s Novel and Teachings, Filipino people realized the
harsh governance of the Spaniards.
