COURSE CONTENT

Course Title: Pragmatics Course Code: ENG-622


Course Structure: Lectures: 2 Credit Hours: 3 hrs

Prerequisites: None

Course Introduction:
The course aims at introducing students to the basics of Pragmatics. Through this course student will be
able to study factors that govern choice of language in social interaction and the effects of these choices on
others.

i. Introducing the concept of Pragmatics


ii. Exploring different theories of Pragmatics
iii. Identification of different levels of Conversational analyses
iv. Understanding the relevance of context in interpretation of conversation
