Assignment of
Bridge Project Work

 Study topographic, geological, hydrological and geotechnical

condition of given bridge site and acquire design data
 Visit bridge site, observe field condition, verify topographic and
hydrological data and prepare site observation report
 Carryout geometrical, geotechnical and hydraulic design of bridge.
 Select appropriate type of bridge and carryout design and
detailing of the bridge components.
 Prepare working drawings of bridge components.
 Prepare quantity estimate of bridge

Client Requirements
Government agency, DoLIDAR is the client. So it is strictly advised to
follow the norms/standards and requirements of DoLIDAR.

Working Order

1. Know your project work/assignments

2. Collect IRC codes, reports and literatures required for project work. Review/study
the IRC codes, reports and literatures and present on the following topics

 Bridge and its components, bridge types and their selection

 IRC norms and standards of bridge design and IRC loading standard
 Acquisition of hydrological and geotechnical data for bridge design and hydraulic
and geotechnical design of bridge
 Method of bridge deck analysis
 Design of RC Slab and T-Beam Bridge
 Design of bearing and substructure of bridge

3. Collect/acquire data required for design and study topography, geology and
geotechnical feature, hydrology and possible traffic of bridge site from the report
and acquired data.

4. Visit bridge site and verify data acquired

5. Conduct hydrological and geotechnical analysis of bridge site and perform

hydraulic and geotechnical design of bridge.

6. Select appropriate type of bridge and perform structural design

7. Prepare project report and working drawings

8. Prepare quantity estimate of bridge
