NARRATIVE REPORT ON BRIGADA ESKWELA

S.Y. 2019-2020

The school is an institution which is responsible in molding the learners into a

responsible individual in the society. This is where one is crafted into a better person, who will
be an emblem of the kind of learning center where he was raised. The multifarious concern of
school demands working with others to accomplish designed tasks and objectives. These would
need dedicated school personnel, cooperative parents, accountable community and innovative
learners.

Educators believe that environment plays a big part in students’ learning. And so, if
classrooms are not conducive to learning because of poor condition and some defective
school facilities, education is hindered. The Department of Education conducted this year’s
Brigada Eskwela, also known as the National Schools Maintenance Week (DepEd Memorandum
No. 36, s. 2019) on May 20, 2019 – May 25, 2019 where all education stakeholders contributed
their time, effort and resources in ensuring that the school facilities are ready in time for the
school opening. Parents, school alumni and other people from the community were encouraged
to join the week - long annual program. Since no national government money was put into
Brigada Eskwela, private businesses, NGO’s, private individuals and local government were
tapped to solicit donations to cover the effort of repair and maintenance of the school.

Early morning of May 20, 2019, the first day of B.E., teachers, stakeholders and NGO’s
participated on the Brigada Eskwela Kick Off . After the parade, the caravan will continue in
each Barangay wherein teachers and school head participated and even some stakeholders were
there too, to support the Brigada Eskwela. Right after the caravan, and opening program was
conducted in our very own school. Which is attended by the parents, teachers and school head to
make sure that the Brigada Eskwela will be conducted successfully. During the opening program
in our school, the in charge of Brigada Eskwela talk about everything about the schedules, work
assignment and other concerns for Brigada Eskwela. After the program, teachers and volunteers
from different organizations went to their respective tasks.

On the second day of BE, May 21, 2019, the volunteers from Philippine Army arrived in
our school and started painting the plant boxes and fences in our school. On the other hand, the
Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4P’s) recipients/volunteers willingly help our school in
cleaning, removing of unnecessary grasses and fixing the decorations in our garden. Some

volunteers from Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) also help in painting the fences of our school.
Donations from NutriAsia arrived in the afternoon, we ask the help of our Barangay to provide
us transportation in delivering the said donations. Many parents, teachers and students who came
were ready and able brigade included eager teachers, enthusiastic parents, excited students, and
other concern people of the community.

On the third day of B.E., May 22, 2019, the first to come are the representatives of the
Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP). They painted the grills in the garden and
also the front wall of our school. Second are some of the Brgy. Tagapo Street Sweepers who
cleaned the whole school ground. Then the Rover scout that painted the grills as well along with
some of the parents. That day the Red Cross team also conducted a short talk about the safety
precautions that they may encounter in school to be able to prepare for the opening of school
year. Lastly, that afternoon the representatives of MERALCO came and gave in kind donations
which are cleaning materials. They also conducted a short talk about usual electrical precaution
and before they go they were also kind to check each rooms for electrical connection and repair
some problems as well. The day went very productive and adds readiness for the school’s
opening with the help of those stakeholders.

On the fourth day and fufth day of B.E., the volunteers cleaned the ground and cut the
grass in designated areas to have clearer vicinity to clean. We picked up unnecessary trash
around the school grounds and disposed it to the trash bin, still observing the proper waste
disposal. Stairs and hallways were also cleaned and polished. Replanting and planting new plants
were done to have a greener school. We cleared the grasses that grew on the plant boxes. they
continue what has been left om the past activity.

On the last day of B.E, May 25, 2019, everyone’s still busy finishing the cleaning,
painting, gardening and repairing of school tools to be fully ready for the opening of the school
year 2019-2020. B.E program ended with a short yet meaningful ceremony which emphasizes
the active stakeholders as well as the local government units such as the Philippine National
Police (PNP),
Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), DepEd and Local Barangay Officials. The school also
commended the presence and active participation of the parents who exerted much effort for the
beautification and safety of the school which benefits their children. For their timeless effort, the
school awarded them a certificate of participation. But the whole Brigada Eskwela would not be
completely successful if it’s not by the teachers’ unending love for the school community and
especially for the pupils’ sake. Of all the efforts exerted by the community, teachers deliver
more of it. They also had to go through painting, repairing, gardening, cleaning and beautifying
their

respective classrooms. Thus, of all the tiring days during Brigada Eskwela, it was all worth the
sweaty efforts. Teachers also received certificates commending their active participations.
Lastly, the program ended with a Zumba dance open for all who participated in Brigada Eskwela
2019-2020. It was truly a success and all worth it. The school is now ready for the opening of
classes. Indeed, it is literally true that we can succeed best and quickest by helping others to
succeed.
