Canvas: 15/20 people thought that it portrayed a positive

emotion, reminding them of good memories from their

childhood
The 5/20 said that it sounded sad, but for the same reason
as the 15/20 people

Love: 12/20 people thought that it portrayed a negative

emotion due to the explicit lyrics
The 5/20 people thought that it portrayed a positive
emotion due to the song’s fast tempo and major chords
3/20 people couldn’t decide whether it sounded positive
or negative

The results show that we can’t come to a conclusion of

“what makes music portray positive/negative emotions”
due to the fact that everyone is different and have
experienced unique events in life, meaning that the same
song can trigger different memories or have a different
reaction to the same memories. What we could conclude
is that music does impact how people feel and that it has
the ability to unlock certain parts of the brain.
