By the month of Ramadan, it is good for us to know or repeat the Tarawih prayer method
either individually or in congregation so that we can all live the nights of this glorious month.
There are many advantages of tarawih sunat prayers and among them are mentioned in the hadith
of the Prophet SAW:
"Whoever prays (Tarawih) on the night of Ramadan with full faith and sincerity, then God forgives
all his past sins". - HR Muslim
Tarawih in Malaysia
Here is the complete tarawih prayer method that is referred through JAKIM.
2
The law of tarawih prayer alone
Prayer time:
Performed after performing the Fardhu Isyak prayer and the sunat ba'diah (after isyak) for two
rak'ahs.
Number of Rakaats:
The Tarawih sunat prayer is performed like the normal sunat prayer, which is two rak'ahs
of one salutation, then repeated again until the desired rak'ah is completed. In Malaysia, we
generally see that there are suraus and mosques that perform Tarawih prayers for 20 rak'ahs, but
there are also those that perform only 8 rak'ahs. This is not a problem because in the time of
Rasulullah SAW, Tarawih prayers were usually performed for 8 rak'ahs only so as not to cause any
objection. However, there is also a hadith that narrates that the Prophet Muhammad SAW used
to perform terawih prayers for 20 rak'ahs.

Tarawih in Malaysia
The pillars of Tarawih circumcision prayer are the same as the other pillars of prayer as well. This means,
after the utterance of intention and takbiratul ihram, we need to recite al-Fatihah, selected surah, rukuk,
iktidal, prostration, sit between two prostrations, and then continue the second rak'ah until the final tahiyat
recitation and ending with salam. The number of rak'ahs can be done either 8 rak'ahs (4 salutations) or 20
rak'ahs (10 salutations).

Recitation of Surah
3. Recitation of Surah
In short, we can actually recite any memorized surah. However, on the night of 1 to 15 Ramadan,
certain surahs can also be recited in the first rak'ah in the following order:
• Surah Al-Takathur
• Surah Al-Asr
• Surah Al-Humazah
• Surah Al-Fil
• Surah Quraisy
• Surah Al-Ma'un
• Surah Al-Kautsar
• Surah Al-Kafirun
• Surah An-Nasr
• Surah Al-Masad
From the night of the 16th until the end of Ramadan, In each of the first rak'ahs, surah al-Qadr is
recited. In every second rak'ah, one surah is recited as recited in the first rak'ah for the nights of 1 to 15
Ramadan, starting from surah al-Takathur to surah al-Masad. *The determination of a surah as mentioned
is only to make it easier for us to remember the number of people only and therefore a person can read
any surah or verse that he remembers. The same goes for the rules of salawat between the rak'ahs of
Tarawih prayer as shared below.

Selawat & Wirid Antara Solat:
Certain selawat events and recitations when starting or between terawih prayers are not required
if we do not memorize them. However, it is not wrong if we want to practice it because the purpose is to
add more worship in this glorious month. However, it is not wrong if we want to practice it because the

Cara Solat Sunat Witir:
According to the general custom of Muslims in Malaysia, perform the Witr sunat prayer after
the Tarawih sunat prayer for 3 rak'ahs. This Witr circumcision is performed like other circumcision
prayers, but with an odd number of rak'ahs.
