Team Entry Limits - No Limits

There are no capacity limits beyond those described in the VPA Rules Book- those who
qualify will not be restricted from competing by COVID protocols. Heats will be spaced
for social distancing should the number of entrants exceed allowable COVID “pod”
sizes.

Athletes may enter a maximum of 4 events excluding alternate relay positions.


Athletes may compete in no more than 4 events.

Coaches please check your entries on 802timing.com by Thursday. The


Performance List will be posted.

No Team Entries after Thursday (June 3, 2021).

Rules: NFHS and VPA rules will be followed.

Meet Qualification: Meet qualification will be according to the qualifying standards in the VPA TF Rulebook.
An athlete may enter an event only if his/her performance in the event is equal to or
better than the posted qualifying standards. The qualifying mark must be achieved in
open competition in the 2021 outdoor season. Athletes must qualify in every event that
they are entering. Please see the VPA Rules Book.

1600M Run and 3200M Run times can be converted into 1500M Run and 3000M Run
times using the MileSplit US Conversion Calculator (http://www.milesplit.com/calc).
Converted times may be used to qualify for the State Meet.

Admission Fee: General Spectator Admission to the meet: adult $8.00 and $5.00 student.
T-shirts will be sold from the concession stand area. Please note - no pets
are allowed.
Spectator Policy: Up to 900 unvaccinated spectators allowed, and unlimited vaccinated spectators. Any
mask or social distancing orders in effect from the VPA or AOE at the time of the meet
will be enforced. ***This is subject to change based on state guidelines.

Parking: Parking at South Burlington High School is free. Parking is first come/first served. All
school buses must park behind the Middle School after drop off. No bus shall park in
front of the Middle School.

Awards: Provided by the VPA. Individual and team award ceremonies as AOE guidelines allow at
the conclusion of the meet.

Implements and Pole Weigh-ins will be required for Shot Put, Discus and Javelin between 8:15AM and
Vault Weigh-in: 9:00AM before the meet on Saturday. Only checked and marked equipment will be
permitted in competition and in warm-up throws. PV inspection will begin at 8:40AM and
will close at 9:15AM.

PV Weight Each athlete competing in PV must have a coach presenting a Weight Certification Form
Certification Form: to the PV official during the inspection prior to the start of the competition

Scoring: Top 6 places score; maximum 4 scores per team per event.

Live Results: Will be uploaded to 802timing.com during the meet.

Spikes: Running and jumping events = maximum 3/16” exposed. The Javelin runway has a
grass surface.

Check in for Running 1. Athletes must report to the clerk of the meet at the time the first call is given (approx.
Events: 15 min. before the event starts) at the check-in tent (at the bottom of the Main Track
Gate entrance stairs. Athletes will receive their heat/lane assignments and hip numbers.

2. Athletes will move directly from the check-in tent to the starting/warm-up area, and
should therefore check-in ready to compete. Athletes must stay in either the check-in
tent area or starting/warm-up area once they check-in.

3. The clerk will scratch all absent athletes after the 2nd and final call (approx. 10
minutes before the race starts) and re-seed the event if necessary. Missing athletes will
not be re-entered once the clerk has closed the event and/or a re-seeding is done.

4. Athletes who are checked-in are expected to compete in that event. Athletes should
only check in if they intend to compete in that event.

Check in for Field All athletes must report to the field event official at the time the first call is given (15
Events: minutes before the event start, 30 minutes for Pole Vault) at the field event sector.

Running events take priority. Any athlete leaving for a running event must sign out on
the first call of that event and sign back in at the field event no later than 10 minutes after
competing in the running event. At that point, athletes will be reinserted into the queue
for their field event and attempts will be forfeited if the athlete is not present when their
name is called.
Any athlete competing in two or more field events at the same time must go back and
forth between these events.

Competitor Hip Numbers (for events not run in lanes) must be worn on the left hip and left chest, so they

must not be covered by the athlete’s jersey.

Team Tents: All team tents must be set up outside of the fence. The preferred location is behind the
main stand as indicated on the site map below so that teams can hear announcements,
but other non-competition areas may also be used.

Weather Emergency: When thunder is heard or lighting seen, athletes, coaches and spectators must leave the
field and go inside the South Burlington High School lobby, gymnasium or auditorium.
Student-Athletes may retreat to their buses or cars.

Games Committee: TBA at the coaches meeting at 8:30am on meet day.

VT Division 2 State Championship - Order of Events

Running Events
● In the 100/110 m High Hurdles and 100 m Dash, the 1st place per
10:30 AM heat + times will advance to the final. Eight (8) athletes will
advance to the final.
4x800 m Relay Finals
● All running events will be run in sections with the fastest section
100/110 m High Hurdles Trials running last.

100 m Dash Trials ● Tape is allowed on runways but must be picked up before leaving
1500 m Run Finals the competition area.

100/110 m High Hurdle Final boys first! ● In the 4x100 m Relay, tape may be used as a marker on the track
for exchanges. Incoming runners should pick up tape for their
4x100 m Relay Finals team after the baton handoff.
400 m Dash Finals
● The alley start (California start) may be used in the 1500 m Run
100 m Dash Final and 800 m Run.
300 m Low/Intermediate Hurdles Finals ● Teams must bring their own starting blocks
800 m Run Finals
● Top portion of the uniform must be tucked into the bottom portion
200 m Dash Finals when hip # are used.
3000 m Run Finals
4x400 m Relay Finals

Field Events ● Opening heights in girls High Jump will be 4-4’ and boys High
Jump will be 5-4’. Both will go up 2 inches after the opening
9:30 AM height
girls Shot Put ● Opening height in girls Pole Vault will be 6-0’ and boys Pole Vault
will be 8-0’ both will go up 6 inches after opening height
girls Long Jump
● In horizontal jumps and throws, there will be one warm-up jump /
girls High Jump throw between flights.
boys Discus ● All field events will be arranged so that those with the best
boys Pole Vault qualifying performances will compete at the end.
boys Long Jump ● In the Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Discus and Javelin, the
girls Javelin top 7 will advance to the final.
● In the High Jump and Pole Vault, the “5 alive” procedure will be
to follow 9:30 event: used.
girls Discus ● There are multiple boards marked on the long and triple jump
girls Pole Vault runway. Athletes must declare a board to the officials during
check-in.
girls Triple Jump
● In field events athletes may provide their own markers. Markers
boys Shot Put must be placed outside of runways. There is a maximum limit of 2
boys High Jump markers per competitor. Tape is allowed but must be picked up
boys Triple Jump after the athlete is done competing.
boys Javelin ● The head judge may change the order of competition to
accommodate those who may be excused to participate in other
events.
