Weight = Mo * g
In the notation it is Mo = Rest Mass
G = Acceleration due to gravity which is about 9.8 meter per second squared
Mass is not converted to energy but can be converted to different forms of energy.
Example: There’s an object moving through space if it’s moving it has some kinetic energy
since energy and mass are directly proportional when energy increases so does mass.
What a Moles?
Is a name for a specific number of things
A mole is kind of like a dozen
So, a mole is 12 things in a dozen while in the mole it has 602 hexillon things.
A mole is NOT an abbreviation for ‘molecules’ which is mole = molecule.
(602 hexillion) = “Avogadro’s Number”
602,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 = 6.02 x 10^23 is the abbreviation of “602 hexillion” in a
scientific notation way.
How to Calculate the Mass of a Number of Moles?
You have to calculate the mass needed for a given number of moles of a compound
(Higher only.)
For Example:
Calculate the mass of 4 moles of sodium chlorine (NaCl).
Mass (g) = Number of moles x Relative Formula Mass Mr
So first we need to calculate the mass of four moles of sodium chlorine (NaCl)
Ar Na=23 Ar. Cl=35.5
NaCl
1 Sodium Atom 1 Chlorine Atom
1 x 23 1 x 35.5
I_______________________________________I
Relative Formula Mass (Mr) = 58.5
So, going back to the equation...
Mass (g) = Number of moles x Relative Formula Mass Mr
Mass (g) = 4 x 58.5
Mass (g) = 234 g.
