SCENE 1
NARRATOR: On the beautiful summer day, one duck is sitting on her eggs among the
tall leaves.
MOTHER DUCK: I wonder when my babies will come out. They are taking so long to
hatch.
(Egg cracking)
NARRATOR: One fine morning! The eggs began to crack and the baby ducklings finally
came out.
BABY DUCKS: (Quack quack quack) Mommy! Mommy!
MOTHER DUCK: Ohhh! What sweet babies I have! You are all so beautiful. How lucky
mother I am.
But what happen to the remaining one? I think I should sit again to this
egg and wait for it.
I am so excited of this duckling!
NARRATOR: The mother waited for the other egg. Until one day, when the egg broke,
there came out a very different one, an ugly duckling.
MOTHER DUCK: This little fellow doesn’t look like the other ducklings! It is very big and
really very different.
SCENE 2
NARRATOR: The next day mother duck takes all her little ducks to the river.
MOTHER DUCK: Oh I am proud today that my ducklings are swimming so well!
Come on! Let´s go to the farm yard.
BABY DUCK (1): No mommy. I don´t want to go there.
MOTHER DUCK: Ohh…. We have to baby, we need to go to the farm so I can present
you to some friends.
BABY DUCK (2): (She´s complaining also) No …. Uhmm, uhmm, uhmm.
UGLY DUCKLING: (The ugly duckling swims faster than her sister. He returns to talk to
her) Let´s go sister. I want to meet new friends.
BABY DUCK (1): I don´t talk to ugly ducks ….. Uggg, uggg, uggg.
UGLY DUCKLING: (Very sad) Why do you treat me like this? You are my sister.
BABY DUCK (2): Noooo. You are very ugly. You can not be our sister.
MOTHER DUCK: (Very angry) Please, be quiet. You cannot do that to your sister.

SCENE 3
NARRATOR: Before it turns dark, the duck family makes its way to the farmhouse.
MOTHER DUCK: (Very happy) Look at my beautiful babies.
(Speak louder) Rooster and hen come here and look of them.
(Very enthusiastic) Children introduce yourself.
NARRATOR: The mother duck moves away to greet the rest of her friends on the farm.
BABY DUCK (1): My name is pretty duckling 1.
BABY DUCK (2): My name is pretty duckling 2.
UGLY DUCKLING: I´m pretty duckling 3.
HEN: (She peaks the ugly duckling) Really, pretty? You are so strange little creature. You
look so different to your siblings! A very ugly one.
ROOSTER: (He flies over the ugly duckling) I agree with you. The other ducklings are so
cute but what happened to you? Why are you so big and ugly?
HEN: (He kicks the ugly duckling) We don´t want ugly ducks in here.
MOTHER DUCK: That’s not a nice thing to say! She is still small and pretty. And I’m
sure she will grow up beautiful too.
UGLY DUCKLING: (Alone) I´m very sad. Nobody wants me, nobody loves me.
SCENE 4
NARRATOR: As days went by, things started becoming worst for the ugly duckling.
Wherever she went, everyone was mean to her. The ugly duckling just wanted to hide
somewhere and cry. Even his brothers and sisters were rude to him.
UGLY DUCKLING: Nobody wants to talk to me or play with me because I’m ugly. I will
run away from here.
NARRATOR: The duckling decided to leave the family and go somewhere deep into the
woods. The duckling wandered all along into the deep forest. Soon, when the heavy rain
came by, the duckling was sad and she shivered with cold and couldn’t find any food to
eat or a warm place to be in.
UGLY DUCKLING: I am so ugly, even all the dogs in the street don’t want me.
NARRATOR: The ugly duckling sadly started wandering in the woods again and there
she finds a lake, and started swimming.
UGLY DUCKLING: This is such a lovely place. It is so good to swim after so long. How I
wish all the other animals would not ignore me and play with me.

SCENE 5
NARRATOR: Finally, it was spring again. Everything was fresh and green. Plants started
sprouting and the sun is starting to show up again.
UGLY DUCKLING: Everything around me has become so beautiful and warm.
NARRATOR: Walking and walking, she saw a river. She was so happy to see all other
swans in the river swimming happily.
UGLY DUCKLING: Those swans are so beautiful; I better not go near them or they will
also make fun of me. I am so scared that they might kill me and I am so tired. I wish I
have never been born. (Crying)
NARRATOR: The duckling went to a quiet spot on the river where nobody could notice
her. She was extremely sad and tears are slowly falling onto her face. And then
suddenly, she saw her own reflection on the river and couldn’t believe she wasn’t ugly
anymore. He had turned into a graceful and beautiful young swan.
Finally, the ugly little thing was accepted by her new friends to whom she
belongs. The beautiful and graceful swans.
UGLY DUCKLING: I understand now, why I was not accepted and look different with my
other siblings before, because I am a swan and they are ducks. I belong in here and not
with them.

LESSON: NEVER JUDGE ANYONE BY THE WAY HE LOOKS BECAUSE WE NEVER
