Project Scope
Introduction:-
This fingerprint voting system is being undertaken for Oxford University, for
the purpose of managing the voting process throughout the university campus.
Project Scope:-
⬧ Will include:-
✓ This project will include fingerprint based voting.
✓ Only the students of the respective university will give the votes.
✓ Students needs to register themselves in the system.
✓ They have to login through registered email id and fingerprint.
✓ Individual students will give vote only once for a particular ongoing
voting process.
✓ Registered students will see the election results declared by the admin.
✓ Admins of Oxford University will manage all the activities.
✓ Additional fingerprint will be taken.

⬧ Will not include:-

 Voting through password.
 Unregistered students.
 Unauthorized students.
 Candidate cannot registered itself.

⬧ Project Deliverables:-
➢ Project deliverables will include a fully secured and functional voting
system.
➢ It will handle multiple users at a time.

➢ Higher authority at Oxford University will review the system and
approve the final product.

⬧ Project Exclusions:-
➢ This project will not include any time deadlines for voting process.
➢ Will not include any past history of election results.
➢ Will not include biometric fingerprint scanning.

⬧ Project Constraints:-
➢ Constrains may include changes in scope or technical difficulties.

Project Objective
❖ The main objective of this project is to create a software application for
"Fingerprint Voting System for University", which will manage all the voting
processes held at the university campus.

❖ The basic objective of the project is to provide: -

1. Security – Fingerprint of each individual is unique. So only
authenticated votes are given.

2. Easy to use – Need not to remember the password. User need to verify
their credentials details and can give the votes or see the displayed
results.

3. Cost effective – Provides cost effective solution for voting process.

From a technology point of view, fingerprint scanner are easy available
in smart phones or tablets.

4. Accuracy – High levels of accuracy can be achieved.

5. Precision: - Simple and precise way of giving vote.

6. Centralized control over voting process.

Problem statement formulation

i. A normal voting system is time consuming. Take extra time for
vote counting and managing the voting process.
ii. Higher risk of malpractices. Candidate may misuse the power.
iii. Need active participation of management team thoroughly for
successfully implementing voting process.
iv. Accuracy and efficiency reduced.
v. Might be possible that one voter can give multiple vote using
different mail Id.
vi. Privacy of data can be compromised.
vii. Need more overhead of resources and man power.
viii. Delay in declaring the result.

Requirement identification for project:

 Any user should use the system easily. Need not require to have
technical knowledge.
 System should have flexibility and scalability.
 System should be independent of platform.
 Only authenticated and authorized users should vote.
 Should have accuracy in showing results.
 Should be cost effective.
 Proper documentation and assurance of voting process should be
there.
 Should provide privacy and security of data.
 Admin should have right to add or remove the candidates or users.
 Admin should have right to manage the whole voting process.
 Should have ability to updates in near future.
