Poetry Collection on Endangered Animals

By: Rachel Neel

Poaching
Illegally hunting,
Is poaching like it’s nothing.

Is it for the meat?

Maybe just another defeat?

Do we do it just for fun?

Just to see them run.

Why do we take the valuable parts?

And only leave their hearts?

Then we go trade it in,

As if it is another win.

Live spelled backwards is evil,

Does that apply to all people?

Loss of Habitat
What if animals could be evicted?
Isn’t that kind of twisted?

Having no place to call home,

The world is like a dome.

Being out there is scary,

I’m feeling kind of wary.

Fighting for my life,

Trying not to think twice.
People taking forest down,
All I do is frown.

While nature may sound melodic,

Some of us are exotic.

This topic is no stranger,

Animals are endangered.

Trapped
Foxes and coyotes caught in a cage,
That only makes me enraged.

Populations decreasing,
Unprotected animals increasing.

Taking animals from the wild,

Like taking candy from a child.

Bobcats are being caught,

Only then to be bought.

All for meat and fur,

Because that’s what people prefer.

Five million a year,

Soon they’ll all disappear.
