A music competition

Charlie’s school music club held a music competition for all club
members last Friday. Charlie sang in that competition. Charlie could play
the guitar well but he couldn’t sing beautifully. He was shy because he
has never sung in front of a lot of people. A few days before the
competition, he practiced a lot with Richard, the best singer in his club.
Charlie waited behind the curtain and said to Richard ‘It’s so scary, isn’t
it? I'm scared, Richard’. ‘Don't worry, Charlie...Everyone always
welcomes you’, Richard said. Charlie walked out but his legs couldn't
really move. ‘Everything will be alright’, Charlie closed his eyes and
talked to himself. Then, he started to sing. Charlie chose a song which is
everyone’s favorite so many people could sing with him. Charlie could
hear people sing with him, so he didn't feel shy anymore. He sang loudly
and happily.
After the song finished, Charlie went back behind the stage. He was
happy and he didn't think about the competition. He only thought about
the song. Then Mr. Black said on stage, ‘The winner for the best song is
Charlie Jones’. That was the first time Charlie had a prize for singing. He
was so happy and he said, ‘Thank you, Richard. You helped me a lot.
Thank you everyone. You sang with me.’
