Projectile Motion

This presentation is made by Alexis Juliette to complete the SMA Tarakanita 1’s
Practical Exam
USE DIAGRAMS TO EXPLAIN YOUR IDEAS

What is a
projectile
motion?
EFFECTS of ELEVATION ANGLE on
DISTANCE TRAVELED
PURPOSE OF THE EXPERIMENT

How does the elevation/launch

“ The goal of this experiment is to find out
how does the elevation/launch angle
affect the distance traveled by a projectile
angle affect the distance traveled by
a projectile?

PROBLEM FORMULATION 4
HYPOTHESIS
If the elevation angle is the bigger it is, then the distance traveled by a
projectile motion will be longer (elevation angle between 0-45 degrees)
and the distance traveled will be shorter (elevation angle between 45-90
degrees)
VARIABLES
Independent variable: the elevation angle
Dependent variable: the distance traveled and the time needed
by the projectile to touch the ground
Controlled variable: object launched (football), initial speed and
air resistance
1. First, open the Phet simulation through the link attached below
then options will appear like the picture below, choose the lab
option.

Steps:
Steps:
1.
2. Set the height, initial speed, and object that is going to be
launched according to the variables we have decide on earlier.
Blank out the air resistance option box.
3. Adjust the elevation angle starting from 0o, 15o, 20o , 30o ,
45o , 60o , 70o, 80o dan 90o.
4. Observe the result of each angle on the range and time, then
write it down on the table!
ANALYSIS RESULT TABLE
5) Do an analysis on your experiment !
A) How does the elevation angle affect the time and the distance traveled by a
projectile motion?
A bigger angle will result on further range and causing more time needed for
the object to touch the ground (if the elevation angle is between 0-45 degrees). And
a bigger angle will result on shorter range, but still causing more time needed for
the object to touch the ground (elevation angle between 45-90 degrees)
B) When and on what angle does the projectile reached the maximum distance
traveled?
The projectile hit the maximum distance traveled (range) at 45 o in 2,56 second.
CONCLUSION:
1) Can your hypothesis be accepted? 2) What conclusion can you make about
Yes, the hypothesis is accepted because projectile motion?
