Digital Photography

Course Description:
This humanities course covers how to communicate through graphics and digital
photography. In this class, students will focus on the basics of camera operation,
exposure, image control, picture composition, photo enhancement, and photo
manipulation. This course discusses digital and traditional film photography, design,
graphic arts, and electronic communication through discussions and mock-ups.
Students will complete photography projects which demonstrate techniques such as
portraiture, composition, landscapes, architecture, wildlife, and nature. It is STRONGLY
recommended that students use a digital camera for this course to complete all required
assignments. Students choosing to use cell phone for this course, will probably need to
purchase a cell phone lens addition and/or an editing application.

through the online course.

with lighting, settings, and menu functions.

Your Camera Must Have:

● a flash that you can control and turn on/off as needed
● OPTICAL zoom (the range doesn't matter as long as it can zoom)
● macro capability
● USB cable or other means of transferring your photos from the camera to the
computer
● viewfinder OR monitor screen
● JPEG image format

Optional (but useful):

● manual focus ability
● lens cap
● extra memory storage
● extra battery and battery charger
● camera case
● tripod
● cell phone lens addition
● •cell phone photo editing application
