A meeting to discuss various issues related to tripping in UP Control Area for

month of May 2021 is scheduled to be held on 10.06.2021 from 11:00Hrs. .This

Blackouts and Simultaneous Tripping Incident ofthe month of May 2021

of the line found open at fault distance and line charged 19:20 hrs after completion of
work

As reported, 400 KV Muradnagar_2-Mathura (UP) Ckt-1 tripped on B-N phase to earth fault.
|Line successfully autoreclosed from Muradnagar_2 end but tripped from Mathura end.
400kV Muradnagar 06.05.21 17:34:00 Fault distance 132.1Km and fault current was 2.591kA from Mathura end. At the same

As per information received from concerned, line fault sensed by relay of 220kv Orai -
220kv Ora 07.05.21 09:54:00 Orail400kV) Iine but due to delayed operation of CB of said line LBB protection operated
and all the elements at 200kv Orai s/s tripped resulting into blackout.

As per information received from concerned, R- Phase insulator of the base of wave

condition, 400 KV Bareilly-

As per information received from concerned, due to over voltage
220kv Chandausi was only
400/220/132 kV s/s Badaun all 220kV line tripped. Since
400kV Badaun 19.05.21 05:54:00 to 220kV Badaun(400kv) supply at 220kV Chandusi also got
fail. Supply at 220kv
|connected Sambhal line.
Chandusi resume at 06:47 hrs by charging of 220kv Chandusi

As per information received from concerned, a heavy fault occurred at 33kV feeder
of the
emanating from 220/132/33 kV Sikandra (Agra) s/s. At the same time DC supply
substation got fail and circuit breaker of faulty feeder was not open. Due to this all 220kV

lines connected to 220kv Sikandra tripped from other end to clear the fault.

5.160 MVA ICT-1 - LV side R ph CT Damaged due to jumper broken from CT terminal.

400kV Anpara 22.05.21 05:09

As reported, 210 MW Anpara TPS - UNIT 1, UNIT 2 & UNIT 3 all tripped on tripping of
cooling water pump.
 As reported, 400 KV Alaknanda GVK(UPC)-Muzaffarnagar (UP) Ckt-1& 400 KV Alaknanda
GVK(UPC) VishnuprayaglUP) (UP) Ckt-1 both tripped at 17:20 Hrs on Y-N phase to earth fault
with delayed clearance in S60ms. At 17:36 Hrs, 400 KV Alaknanda GVK(UPC)-Srinagar(UK)
(UK) Ckt-1& Ckt-2 and 220 KV Singoli Bhatwari(Singoli(LTUHP)-Srinagar(UK) (PTCUL) Ckt-1
400kV Alaknanda 24.05.21 17:20 &Ckt-2 all tripped on DT received at Srinagar end. At the same time, 82.5MW Alaknanda
HEP UNIT 2 and 33MW Singoli UNIT 1& UNIT 2 also tripped. As per PMU, Y-N phase to
earth fault is observed at 17:20 Hrs. In antecedent condition, 400 KV Alaknanda GVK(UPC)
Muzaffarnagar (UP) Ckt-1 & 400 KV Alaknanda GVK[UPC) VishnuprayagUP) (UP) Ckt-1
carrying 57MW& 117MW respectively.

As per information received from UPPCL:

1. At 13:56 Hrs fault occurred in 220KV Mainpuri -Chibramau line at Distance 7.9KM.
zone-1 but the protection of the same line failed at 220kvVMainpuri end which results
operation of L88 protection and blackout occurred at 220KV Mainpuri S/s.
2. As per information received, due to issue in isolator contact bus tied condition occurred
while it was not physically occurred. Due to this both 220kv bus -I and bus lI tripped which
220kV Manipuri 25.05.21 13:56:00 results the tripping of all 220kv lines connected to these buses.

3. The reason for non operation ofprotection of 220KV Mainpuri- Chhibramau line was

due to damaged protection cable of line.

Concerned are requested to provide the detailed analysis report of the incident mention above as per format
attached as Annexure IlI
