ASSIGNMENT 2
ONLINE BUSINESS
ASSIGNMENT 2: ONLINE BUSINESS
MARKS: 30%

Objective of Assignment

The main objective of this assignment is to prepare students to


understand the importance and function of online business. Upon
completion of this assignment, students able to conduct online business
through social media platforms and other online business tools.

Task Outline

Students are required to implement/execute the business plan


(assignment 1) in the form of online business. Students are required to sell
their product/item via online. You may refer the following guideline in order
to accomplish this task.

Task 1

i) Students are required to sell any product through the social media
platform.

ii) Social media platform such as Facebook (Facebook Business Page,


Facebook marketplace), Instagram (Instagram for Business) and
WhatsApp can be utilized for the purpose of social commerce.

iii) Students are required to promote their product through social media
platform by using promotional techniques such as teaser, soft sell and
hard sell.

iv)Students are to be advised to optimize relevant social media advertising


tools.

v) Students are also advised to get likes, followers, post engagement, post
reach and so on in the social media business promotion page.

Task 2

i) Students are required to develop a simple website about your business.

ii) The website should contain information business, promotion, and about
business
iii) Students are advised to optimize any free web builders such as
googlesite, wix, weebly, wordpress, jimdo and s on.

#Additional- Student also can sell their product through B2C platform such as
Shopee, Lazada, mudah.my and so on if applicable

Instructions

i) The written assignment is to be prepared on a group basis (8-10 members


in a group) based on assignment 1 (business Plan/Proposal). It is expected
the content of the written assignment will reflect the group's thoughts and
analysis rather than the work of others.

ii) Print Screen with the elaboration of each process.

and so on)

assignment (Include in the cover page as well)
 MDEC Go-eCommerce portal Sales Record – Divide according to group
member or agreed ratio (for example – Total sales=RM200 and Group
Members=10. So, RM200/10= RM20 each member sales record in the
Go-ecommerce portal)
 Other relevant information on online business

iii) Each group must submit a Complete Online Business Report by Week 13
(exclude mid-term break). Group assignment guidelines/specifications are
given below.

iv) Students are required to register Go-eCommerce portal to learn more about
digital business and digital as well as record your sales. marketing (Free
Learning Portal by MDEC). (Refer Appendix 1 - MDEC- User Guideline for
Student)

v) Students are advised to refer to the rubric (Appendix 2) to comprehend


assessment criteria.

Group Assignment Specification:

i) The project should be neatly typed in Font 12 Arial with 1.5 spacing on A4
size papers.
ii) Students are expected type page number, course code and course name in
every page.

iii) The assignment should be written in MALAY or ENGLISH.

iv) Students are expected to use APA referencing style for their assignment.

Late Submission Penalty Clause

Deadline for submission of assessment item(s) is to be strictly adhered to. No


extension of time will be allowed except in extenuating circumstances, e.g.
medical reasons. Students who wish to apply for extension of time for submission
of assessment item(s) after the due date shall put in writing the request together
with validated documentary evidence to support the application to his/her class
lecturer. The lecturer may consider and grant such extension of due date for the
assessment item(s) based on the reason(s) provided.

Any assessment item required by the Coursework Assessment which is


submitted after the due date, without an approved extension, will be penalized. A
penalty of 10% reduction of the maximum mark applicable to the assessment
item(s) will be levied for each day of late submission. Weekends and Public
Holidays are counted as one (1) day late. Assessment item(s) submitted more
than seven (7) days after the due date will be awarded with zero (0) marks.  

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined as the submission or presentation of work, in any form,


which is not one's own, without acknowledgment of the sources. If a student
obtains information or ideas from an outside source, that source must be
acknowledged. Another rule to follow is that any direct quotation must be placed
in quotation marks and the source immediately cited.

Plagiarism is also defined as copy of all or part of the work of other student(s) of
current or previous batch of this University or another higher learning institution.

The University's degree and other academic awards are given in recognition of
the candidate's personal achievement. Plagiarism is therefore considered as an
act of academic fraudulence and as an offence against University discipline.

Mode of Referencing

Students are advised to incorporate proper academic modes of referencing. The


normally acceptable mode of academic referencing is the American
Psychological Association (APA) system.
