Form & Composition

Define
Form – Elements of design that create the
physical aspects of the artwork.
Composition – the principles of the design
in which they are arranged.

Technique
Define
Medium – the materials used to create the
work
Technique – the manner in which the
artist uses the medium

Line

In the art piece there are different shades of


lines that illustrates the shadows. The
direction in the lines also show texture. In
this piece most of the lines are straight.

Submit an image of Albrecht Dürer’s Melancholia, in the


space where you see the seagull. Discuss in the textbox, what
types of lines do you see. How do they they create other
elements of art?
Color

Light reveals all colors.


Define additive light: The additive color mode is
primarily used when shades of light are used to create
colors,
Find an illustration of the color wheel and insert it in the space above.
Define subtractive light: the subtractive mode is used
when white light, such as sunlight, reflects off an object.

Define hue: a color or shade

What are the three primary colors? Red blue yellow

What are the three secondary colors? Orange violet


green

What are complementary colors? Red and green, blue


and orange, and yellow and purple
Texture

The term texture refers to: the perceived


surface quality of a work of art. It is an
element of two-dimensional and three-
dimensional designs and is distinguished
by its perceived visual and physical
properties.
The art piece to the right is from Vincent
van Gogh when he cut off his ear.

Submit an image of an artist use of texture. Give attribution to

seen on the work and what it does for the work.
Space, Mass, &
Volume.
Explain the differences between
space - the distance between or the area
around and within shapes, forms, colors and
lines.
Mass - refers to a shape or three-
dimensional volume that has or gives the
illusion of having weight, density or bulk.
volume - the representation of mass in
an art work or a sculpture. The three
dimensional form of an object or shape is
said to have volume.

Perspective &
Foreshortening

In each of these art pieces perspective and foreshortening is used by


making the objects lager in size to appear closer to the eye.

I believe art takes effect on everyone differently, art


history is a deeper thought provoking concept that
reflects on the time and principals of the artist. Art is

social, and divers aspects.
